- Credits former Utah Jazz coach Frank Layden with making him the player he became. After Layden resigned midway through the 1988-1989 season, Karl played the rest of the season with "Frank" written on the heels of his basketball shoes as a tribute.
- Admitted to fathering twins (Cheryl and Daryl Ford, born June 1981) with Bonita Ford, but denies paternity of a third child (NFL offensive tackle Demetress Bell) with Gloria Bell, born three years later. (1998)

- LA Lakers great Magic Johnson offered to un-retire his #32 jersey so Malone could wear it once he was signed to the Lakers because Malone wore 32 his entire tenure in Utah. Malone respectfully declined and chose #11.
- Phil Jackson stated in his memoirs that Malone was the only player he didn't hug goodbye at the end of the disappointing 2003-2004 season, despite the fact that a feud or tension was never reported or mentioned between the two.
- Became the oldest player (40 years) in NBA history to record a "triple double", with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in a November 30, 2003, game against the San Antonio Spurs. He also became the oldest player ever to score 30 points in a post-season game in 2004 against the Houston Rockets.
- Settled both paternity cases (Ford twins and Demetress Bell) out of court without acknowledging paternity in either.

- Plays for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association. He was drafted by the Jazz in 1985 and has appeared in the NBA All-Star 11 times. Acting is one of many sidelines to Karl's NBA career.
- Wrestled one match on a WCW Pay Per View teaming with Diamond Dallas Page to take on Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman.
