Alex Lyras is an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, actor, and producer known for Plasticity, Heterosexuals, Californication, Tut, and The Common Air.
Plasticity, his most recent stage production, was listed first on The Huffington Post Best Theatre Productions and won an Ovation Award. The show opened Off Broadway at the Greenwich Street Theater in 2020. His previous solo performance, The Common Air, linking six characters during an airport delay, won multiple awards in Los Angeles and transferred Off Broadway to the Bleecker Street Theater. Unequalibrium was selected for publication in "New Playwrights: Best Plays" and "Best Men's Monologues for the Twenty First Century."
Mona, which he starred in and produced, won Best Picture at the Malibu Film Festival. "Heterosexuals", which he starred in and produced, is available on Netflix and Amazon Prime. His screenplay ALVA was awarded a TriBeCa Film Institute Sloan Foundation grant. It was recently optioned by Castle Rock. He is a member of the WGA.
