Voltage Pictures, which is representing five films at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (Aug 8-18) – Colossal, The Headhunter’s Calling, Lbj, The Secret Scripture and The Journey Is The Destination – will launch international sales this week on Fun Mom Dinner.

Scott Veltri has been promoted to head of worldwide sales forcand replaces Christina Rogers, who is departing to pursue other opportunities.
Veltri previously served as vice-president of international sales and worked closely with Rogers over the last three years to increase the profile of the division.
He sold titles such as Sean Baker’s Tangerine, Steve James’ documentary Life Itself, Crystal Moselle’s The Wolfpack, Albert Maysles’ Iris, and Morgan Neville and Robert Gordon’s Best Of Enemies.

Brigade, the bi-coastal publicity and marketing agency that guided this season’s awards campaign for Sean Baker’s Tangerine, the first on record to promote a transgender performer for a major Oscar nom, is formally launching an awards consultation division, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The company, which was established in 2010 by publicist Adam Kersh, digital marketer Tom Cunha and social media strategist Jean McDowell, has provided traditional publicity services for many indies, including Lena Dunham‘s Tiny Furniture and the early Brie Larson vehicle Short Term 12, and awards-specific services for Compliance, starring Ann Dowd, and the doc How to Survive a Plague, among many others.

Each year, the New York Times chief film critics (Manohla Dargis, A.O. Scott, and Stephen Holden) release their picks for who should be nominated by the Academy.
While many of this year’s current front runners made the list, as they often do, it is a bit of a rarity for the sensibilities of all three critics to converge on the same candidate.
Just that, however, has happened this year in a number of categories, as a consensus was reached on six awards, which may be a good indication of what the Oscar future may hold.
In the best picture category Dargis, Scott, and Halden agreed on director Todd Haynes’ 1950’s-set lesbian romantic drama, Carol, which centers on a housewife’s (Cate Blanchett) affair with a young store clerk (Rooney Mara). Haynes was also unanimously predicted to be this year’s best director winner, over...

Caitlyn Jenner, the world’s most famous trans person, is throwing her support behind the first-ever Oscar campaign for a trans actress, Tangerine‘s best supporting actress hopeful Mya Taylor.
