Australian born Thad Lawrence started his career at 16 years of age on the set of New Zealand film Utu (1983), digging long drops on a remote NZ location for his mum Veronica Lawrence who was the location manager, with his father Bruno Lawrence playing the lead. After working across most departments in the early 80s, he pretty quickly found an attraction to the lighting department.
Trained in both Australia and New Zealand in the 80's. Experience in Europe, Asia and extensively through the South Pacific. In the early 90's his debut gaffer role was on Peter Jackson's Dead Alive (1992).
Gaffer owned, Filmlights NZ was established in Auckland, New Zealand by industry professional Thad Lawrence who has over 40 years of experience in lighting for the film & TV industry, on films, TV shows, and commercials, both domestically in New Zealand, and internationally.
