- Andy Ladas gad a reputation as one of the finest mandolin players in America. He also excelled with a banjo and the guitar, and taught all three instruments at the Detroit Conservatory of Music. He also was featured with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, being the first to introduce a banjo in conjunction with a symphony orchestra. He appeared for several years with Russ Morgan's Orchestra. He was born in Smyrna, Aisa Minor, of Greek parentage, and came to the United States with his parents in 1914.
