Joseph Kessel was born on 31 January 1898 in Villa Clara, Entre Ríos, Argentina. He was a writer, known for Belle de Jour (1967), Army of Shadows (1969) and The Night of the Generals (1967). He was married to Michèle O'Brien, Catherine Gangardt and Nadia-Alexandra Polizu-Michsunesti. He died on 23 July 1979 in Avernes, Val d'Oise, France.
