Joseph Goebbels was a master of propaganda who knew how to sway public opinion like few others. As Hitler’s Reich Minister of Propaganda, he had unprecedented control over Germany’s media and used this power to spread the Nazi message. The new film Führer und Verführer directed by Joachim A. Lang reveals how Goebbels orchestrated displays of support for Hitler with meticulous precision.
We see him ensuring Hitler’s welcome to Berlin after annexing Austria in 1938 goes exactly to plan. A prearranged girl presents the Führer with flowers at the optimal moment for the cameras. Goebbels wants footage that will solidify Hitler’s image for generations. Every shot must project strength and popularity.
Though focused on Goebbels, the movie also shines light on his complex relationship with Hitler. At first the two seem inseparable, but Hitler’s unbending nationalism emerges while Goebbels still enjoys the glories of peacetime. When war comes,...

This small-town crime thriller seems to bridge more than just the two figures.

The film navigates a fictionalized version of the small town of Pola depicted as a devout catholic fishing community where citizens live far from the town center and from each other. The title of the film is a wordplay of several layers. The first layer is the word “pula” being the literal translation of the color “red” associated with the red tide plaguing the town’s fishing industry at the brink of a typhoon. From this setup, we are introduced...

“Kingdom of the Blind,” “Little Trouble Girls” and “Wind, Talk To Me” were among the projects which won prizes at the milestone 15th edition of Les Arcs Film Festival‘s Industry Village.
The event, held in a popular French Alps resort, was attended by more than 700 professionals, including top sales agents, distributors and festival programmers, on top of high profile talent, such as two-time Palme d’Or winning Ruben Ostlund (“Triangle of Sadness”) who was the festival’s guest of honor.
The growing popularity of Les Arcs’s industry sidebar underscores “the resilience of the independent European film market and the continued interest in original stories along with feature debuts,” said Jeremy Zelnik, an indie producer (“Kubrick by Kubrick”) who heads the Industry Village and co-founded the festival with Pierre-Emmanuel Fleurantin, Guillaume Calop and Fabienne Silvestre.

“No Me Sigas,” the directorial debut of “Anything’s Possible” writer Ximena García Lecuona, and “Malamuerte,” from Caye Casas, a rising star of pitch black Spanish comedy, both feature in a rich and far-ranging 2023 Blood Window Lab, the project platform of Ventana Sur’s genre forum, which unspools Nov. 27-Dec. 1.
The projects are joined by other buzz titles such as “Into the Spiral,” from Facundo Escudero Salinas, whose thriller, “Broken,” ranks as one of the top 10 most watched Argentine films of 2023.
Also anticipated is “Planet, billed as “a vast depiction of unprecedented worldwide alien contact, exploring different cultures and societal classes through their experiences with the phenomenon,” and directed by Fredrik S. Hana, a 2022 Meliès d’Or Award for “From.Beyond.”
The projects form part of 22 titles as submissions are up 20% this year on last, notes Javier Fernández, head of the Blood Window Program.

The new Mexican Netflix Original, The Chosen One, is out, and so far, it has been one of the most interesting pieces of fantasy fiction to have come out on the platform this year. This coming-of-age drama is about a bunch of kids who are trying to understand the significance of the divine power that has been bestowed upon one of their closest friends. There are many characters in The Chosen One, and by the looks of it, this engaging drama involving kids might get a second season.
Jodie, Tuka, Magda, Hipotila, and Wagner have been friends for a while. The kids are an integral part of each other. They seem too inseparable, and it showcases the bond they share. Jodie looks American but has lived most of his life in Mexico. Just like any other children their age, they prefer to have a sense of adventure and want to discover many new things.

Below Deck Down Under chief stew Aesha Scott really is going to be a “tougher b****” on season 2. As chief stew, Scott said she was more assertive and learned to be proactive when it came to crew issues – something she regrets not doing more of last season.
Last season Scott felt the need to prove herself to Captain Jason Chambers. So she tried to resolve issues with chef Ryan McKeown and stew Magda Ziomek on her own. From that experience, Scott realized that she should have brought problems to Chambers’ attention earlier so they could have been resolved faster.
Aesha Scott communicated more with Captain Jason on ‘Below Deck Down Under’ Season 2
“It was my first time being chief stew. And I didn’t wanna nark. Or I didn’t want to bring things to Jason unless it was this massive issue,” she said on Hannah Ferrier’s Dear Reality,...

A version of this story about Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” first appeared in the Comedy Series issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
Five seasons of Amazon’s pop-culture-reveling hit “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” has yielded more stars rising than bagel dough, but possibly none more so than show composers Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore. The duo, who met at Northwestern and mentored with “The Muppet Show” veteran and multiple Emmy winner Larry Grossman, are responsible for pretty much any piece of music you hear that isn’t from someone’s songbook, and like other efforts from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, you can bet musical numbers are going to be part of the deal.
“We did actually we were set up on a sort of blind date with them about close to 10 years ago now,” Mizer says. “We’d been writing a stage musical...

Disney+’s acclaimed “Star Wars: Visions” anthology series from Lucasfilm moves beyond anime with “Volume 2.” The nine shorts in this second season tout a broader range of styles and techniques while showcasing the Star Wars franchise’s cultural impact throughout the world.
“We believed in this potential from the start when we expanded out more globally,” executive producer James Waugh told IndieWire. “We really thought we could show the world just incredible animation that’s being done out there and incredible cultural voices out there from different countries. Each one of these creators had something they wanted to say. They are such masters of their craft. And then we got to see the fun of watching all their different animation techniques and styles brought to life in ‘Star Wars’ in ways we never quite experienced before.”

Sex and the City could be described in a lot of different ways. It was provocative, it was sultry, and it was funny. Very few people would describe the show about a sex columnist as “wholesome,” though. Even though it’s certainly not the first word that comes to mind when we think of the series, Sex and the City did have some seriously wholesome moments. We’ve collected our three favorites.
Magda was stern, but she offered a seriously wholesome ‘Sex and the City’ moment
Miranda Hobbes’ housekeeper turned nanny was a motherly figure in many ways. While stern, Magda also seemed to understand Miranda and cared deeply for Brady Hobbes. In the season 6 finale, “Part Deux,” she offered up one of the most wholesome Sex and the City moments of the entire series.

Pam Grier has lived an incredible life. Her autobiography, "Foxy: A Life in Three Acts" is hopefully going to be turned into a biopic that can finally celebrate her trailblazing career. An entire generation of fans know her as the titular character in "Jackie Brown," Tarantino's follow-up to "Pulp Fiction," based on the crime novel "Rum Punch" by Elmore Leonard. Decades before that, Grier became widely known as the first female action star playing street-savvy, no-nonsense characters in "Coffy" (She'll cream you!), "Foxy Brown", and the more comedic mystery "Friday Foster."
An undeniable acting force and sought-after sex symbol, it was only a matter of time before more challenging, high-profile roles started to come Grier's way. After essentially owning the 1970s, Grier started off the '80s taking on more character-driven parts, like in the boxing drama "Tough Enough" starring Dennis Quaid, and the classic police procedural "Fort Apache the Bronx" starring Paul Newman.
