Hubley has been making animated short films, as well as short pieces for full-length documentaries, since the early 1980s. Her films are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art's Department of Film. Her 2008 feature, The Toe Tactic, had its genesis at the Sundance Institute's Screenwriters' and Filmmakers' Labs. The Toe Tactic was shown at numerous film festivals including SXSW, New Directors/New Films and the San Francisco and Rio de Janiero International Film Festivals.
