On stage from 1958, she was noted for her saucy stage bedroom scene in the play ''Danton's Death'' at the Lyric Hammersmith.
Her gallery of stage characters since included Aglaya in Dostoevsky's The Idiot (1962), Portia in The Merchant of Venice (1970) and Anne Protheroe in Agatha Christie's Murder at the Vicarage (1982). In films from 1956, she played mostly minor roles but was seen to rather better effect during the 60s and 70s as a TV guest star.
