Anna Holbrook
- Actress
As a young girl, Anna worked on a number of location sets in her hometown of Tucson, AZ. The good 'ol Western was embedded in her heart after working on such shows as Gunsmoke, High Chaparral and others set in the old west. Never thinking that acting could actually be a career, she went the conventional route - University of AZ - a Nursing Major, transferring to, Trinity, in San Antonio, TX - a JBF Major, then marrying her high school sweetheart and following him as he became an Air Force pilot. After landing in Shreveport, LA, she eventually found her way back onto the stage and screen. She'd make the 3 hour drive to Dallas, working in numerous Commercials and Industrials, even, 'Dallas', itself working briefly with Larry Hagman and Linda Gray.
Knowing that her mate was planning to leave the AF, they both made the commitment for Anna to head to NYC and give it a go. Cut to a fruitful life in the North East for the Western girl! 'She was gonna be an actress, he was gonna learn to fly . . .' - and they did! He became a commercial pilot and she had immediate commercial success, (when waspy blondes were the name of the game). She wanted to understand the craft of acting and started studying immediately. Then, while doing an Off Broadway play Anna auditioned for the NBC soap, Another World. A Soap Opera was never her dream, but it was certainly a gift. She stayed for 7 years playing, Sharlene Frame, winning a Daytime Emmy in 1996. Anna has had an ongoing career in TV/film - stepping out for a 13 yr hiatus to 'be the hub at home', then heading back after her last child was launched.
This time, she could have a deeper commitment to theater - no children, dogs or ferrets to run home to. So, many plays and more guest spots, some nice feature work later - she's still standing.
Anna is married to retired Delta pilot, Bruce Holbrook. They have two children, Johanna and Henry, and they reside in CT.
