Oh dear… It started so strong, stumbled in the middle and, well, imploded towards the end. With its mid-season finale The Walking Dead left a clear message: all hope is lost. The show unfortunately seems more focused on drawing seasons out, padding them for a longer run and preventing any closure to storylines therefore restricting development and growth. What’s worse is all this meandering leaves the show feeling like a stale stew of left-over meat.
The episode opens with Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) and The Scavengers ditching Rick (Andrew Lincoln) once the Saviors inside The Sanctuary start shooting. Why he felt that getting them onside was important is beyond us. If his plan had played through like he intended, they wouldn’t need The Scavengers and considering they seem to side with the victors regardless, they could have been confronted once the war was won.
Elsewhere, Enid (Katelyn Nacon) and...

“All you have to do to be on the winning side is stand down. Do nothing.”
This week’s episode should come with a pre-warning: beware this episode may contain unhealthy amounts of Eugene (Josh McDermitt). We have nothing against the nonsense spouting wimp in particular, honest, but of the myriad of characters the show has to offer Eugene would most certainly be at the bottom of our “a whole episode dedicated to” wish list. In fact we would have even preferred Any of the other lieutenants. And yes we hear you nit-pickers in the back purring – we know that Eugene doesn’t take up all of the screen time in “Time for After” but he is without doubt the protagonist and the majority of the episode is concerned with him and the decisions he needs to make.
Anyway, let’s take a look at the episode.

2017-12-06T06:58:19-08:00'Walking Dead' Watch: Is Negan Going to Kill Someone Else?class="p1">
The last time The Walking Dead generated much excitement, it was at the end of season 6, when we all wondered who Neegan was going to kill at the beginning of season 7. Now that season 8 is almost half finished, and excitement has been in short supply, the series is trying to evoke that kind of anticipation once again. A new teaser seems to indicate that Neegan and the Saviors might be about to exact another heavy toll on Rick's group.

*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by Image Entertainment.

The straight-to-dvd market is full of hits and misses. Sometimes one finds a gem, but sometimes one finds a film such as Fall Down Dead. This title, released by Image Entertainment on DVD June 14th, suffers from averageness, which is not a quality that you want in a competitive film market. One hour plus of a cat-and-mouse chase plotline between villain and protagonist just does create enough excitement. The writing from Roy Sallows (The Conspiracy of Fear) creates great characters, but not much tension in this 90 minute thriller?

Ok, so the story does need a bit (or maybe a lot) of work. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that Fall Down Dead does an admirable job of creating this unnerving atmosphere. Udo Kier does make for a genuinely creepy antagonist in a memorable performance. Fall Down Dead does a solid job of using dark, empty corridors to create unease. On June 17, Image Entertainment will release the 2007 serial killer movie Fall Down Dead on DVD.
Dominique Swain is stalked by a serial killer in Fall Down Dead.
Starring Dominique Swain (Lolita), Udo Kier (My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done) and the late David Carradine (Dark Fields), it’s, well, one of those ridiculously bad lousy movies that’s so bad it succeeds as a guilty pleasure.
It’s Christmas Eve when single mother Christie Wallace (Swain) stumbles across The Picasso Killer (Kier)—a serial murderer killer who considers his mutilated victims to be works of art—just as he’s finishing up with a victim. Short notice, but I only just heard about it last night, at the screening of Bilal’s Stand that I attended (review is coming)…
This is an all-day event taking place at Nyu’s Cantor Film Center on 36 East 8th Street; I’ll be heading out there shortly – don’t want to miss Armond White dish on “black representation in cinema” on a panel that begins at 10Am.
Here are the specifics for each segment of the conference. It’s all Free and Open To The Public! So, if you can attend even one of them, why not do so. I’ll check out at least one of them… possibly more, I’m engaged by what I hear after the first one.
First, from 10-11:15 am – a panel on Representation
Moderator: Jacquie Jones
Panelists: Todd Boyd, Armond White, Toni Francis, Zola Maseko
Second, from 11:30-12:45 pm – a...

Indie filmmaker Jon Keeyes, whose credits include the well-received American Nightmare and Suburban Nightmare, sent along news that his latest chiller Fall Down Dead will receive limited theatrical release via his Highland Myst Entertainment and New Film International. The movie will open in December in select cities nationwide; Keeyes passed on some photos, which you can see below.
Fall Down Dead stars genre fave Udo Kier (first photo) as The Picasso Killer, a serial murderer who turns his victims into works of art, and Lolita’s Dominique Swain (second photo) is Christie, a young woman trapped (along with six others) in a building one night with the madman. The late Carradine (third photo) appears as Wade, a bumbling security guard, and R. Keith Harris and Mehmet Gunsur co-star as detectives.
“This movie has everything I love about horror films,” Keeyes tells Fango. “Quirky characters with great conflict, an original twist on the killer,...

The greatest musicians of our time were honored for their excellence last night at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. Music stars along with the hottest movie stars showed up to honor the best music of the year. With performances by Jennifer Hudson, T.I., Justin Timberlake, Radiohead and appearances by Gwyneth Paltrow, Paris Hilton, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and the ever-hip Cyndi Lauper. Robert Plant stole the show, the Jonas Brothers rocked with music legend Stevie Wonder and M.I.A hit the stage with Jay-z, Kanye West, T.I. and Lil Wayne to perform even though it was her baby's due date! All the stars hit the covered red carpet last night in Los Angeles, California despite the monsoon rain they faced all week. Ryan Seacrest was the gate keeper at the red carpet and made sure that he snatched up all the good interviews including the Bff duo Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift,...

As we said in our Grammy Predictions, we have a love/hate relationship with the Grammys. But hey, we love music, so we're watching to see what happens. Could be a big year for Lil Wayne (did you see his interview with "Miss" Katie Couric?). Could be a controversial night if Coldplay's alleged Joe Satriani rip-off grabs some hardware ("Viva La Vida" by Coldplay and Satriani's "If I Could Fly"). But plenty of great artists are nominated (M.I.A., Allison Krauss/Robert Plant, Radiohead, Gnarls Barkley, Daft Punk, Brazilian Girls....we could go on), so as always, it'll be worth watching, especially for the performances. Unlike the Oscars, where the show is pretty much all about the host, the Grammys are all about those live performances (remember when Beyonce stole the show with Prince back in 2004?). Hang with us and add to the conversation in the comments!

Lil Wayne is having a big year. Not only did the rapper's album Tha Carter III go five times platinum, selling over five million copies, but on Wednesday, he was nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including the prestigious album of the year honors. And the rapper will face off against British rockers Coldplay in that category, who followed closely behind, earning seven nominations. For the first time ever, the Grammy nominations were announced on primetime television as part of a special concert featuring performances by Christina Aguilera, John Mayer and Mariah Carey, who opened the telecast with a seasonal run...
