Harris was a regular cast member of the radio show "Al Pearce and His Gang" (which had crossed NBC, CBS and ABC radio networks under various names such as "Watch the Fun Go By" and "Here Comes Elmer" from 1929-47) from the mid-1930's. Harris was spotlighted as "The Human Chatterbox" on the show, a running gag had her talking to her friend Mazie at an incredible 240 words per minute. Although Pearce's popularity faded rapidly after WW2, Harris' notoriety extended to an episode of TV's "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (co-starring ex-Pearce cast member
Morey Amsterdam) where she reprised her verbal machine gun telephone call routine to an unseen Mazie.
