HBO Max has given a 10-episode order to “The Garcias,” a sequel to the family comedy “The Brothers Garcia” that aired on Nickelodeon for four seasons from 2000 to 2004.
The series hails from New Cadence Productions, the banner headed by “Brothers Garcia” co-creator and executive producer Jeff Valdez and Sol Trujilo. Production is scheduled to begin in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico in June.
Reviving the world of “Brothers Garcia” has been a long mission for Valdez. The original series revolved around four children – three boys and a girl – in a Mexican American family living in San Antonio, Texas. The new iteration finds the Garcia children grown up and gathering with their parents for a three-month summer vacation in a luxury home by the beach.

At least two Lgbtq Marvel movie characters are in the works, according to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.
At a press junket for “Ant-Man and The Wasp” Sunday, Feige was asked by The Playlist if an Lgbtq hero or heroine would be represented in a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie or if that was even in the works. Feige responded simply, “Yes.”
When pressed further if the character was one we have or haven’t seen yet, Feige answered, “Both ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen.”

The character we haven’t seen can be anyone’s guess, but the one we’ve already met is most likely Tess Thompson’s Valkyrie from “Thor: Ragnarok.” Actress Tessa Thompson, who plays Thor’s enchanted-sword-carrying one-time love interest in the film, revealed on Twitter that her character is bisexual.

Marvel and ABC have been teasing the assembly of The Secret Warriors since the announcement of a third season of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., and on tomorrow night’s instalment, “The Team,” we’ll finally get to see ’em in action.
In this new sneak peek from the episode, It looks like Daisy Johnson and her Inhuman recruits (Lincoln Campbell, Yo-Yo Rodriguez and Joey Gutierrez) have been sent to infiltrate a Hydra compound in the hopes that they can locate the man that’s been causing Coulson some serious grief this season: Gideon Malick.
Though they may not have much field experience, the powerful trio have little trouble dispatching the waves of Hydra goons they encounter – and Lincoln even manages to lay eyes on Malick.
So, mission accomplished? Well, as worried as ol’ Gideon looks, there’s no way the devious Hydra boss doesn’t have something else up his sleeve.

The first promo for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. midseason premiere was released, and I have to admit, it is pretty dynamic and intense. The 30-second preview introduces new inhumans, inhumans again, and, oh wait a minute, even more inhumans. But there is also a lot of kicking, punching, and action just to keep things going the right way.
This footage focuses on one of the main storylines in for season three, the Secret Warriors, and offers a look at Elena Rodriguez, aka Slingshot, played by Natalia Cordova-Buckley.
Here’s an official synopsis for the mid-season promo:
When Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns, Coulson is more determined than ever to get to Gideon Malick and put an end to Hydra once and for all in the aftermath of his trip to Maveth. Meanwhile, Daisy and the team encounter more Inhumans who have powers like they’ve never seen before,...

If the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a high school and the end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s first season was graduation, the franchise’s first foray into television would easily have gotten the senior superlative for “Most Improved.” Co-creators Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tanchareon (and Joss Whedon, but since Age of Ultron broke him, his fingerprints on the series lessen by the hour) have kept the spy-versus-spy shenanigans on the up-and-up since season two, culminating in a third season premiere that acts as both a cap-off to last year’s turmoil and a deliriously fun introduction to a whole new issue: actual superheroes.
Thanks to the events of the season two finale, a whole new crises has arisen for the down-but-never-out gang to tackle – now led by a one-handed Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) – centering on a group of fish oil vitamins that became infused with the dreaded Terrigen Crystals after Skye (ahem,...

In an interesting twist, sitcom veteran Chris Case, who was in contention to write the new Charlie Sheen sitcom Anger Management, has sold a sitcom project to CBS, the network where Sheen was a star on Two and a Half Men for 8 seasons. Case, creator of TV Land’s comedy series Retired at 35, is co-writing the untitled comedy — about a recently separated father of two who attempts to move on with his life — with Joey Gutierrez (Still Standing). CBS TV Studios is producing with Mindy Shultheis and Michael Hanel’s Acme Prods. This is a project a lot of my colleagues can unfortunately relate to: CBS has bought multi-camera comedy script Malled, written by Bill Kunstler (Accidentally On Purpose). It centers on a career journalist who, after getting laid off from her job at a newspaper, takes a retail job in a clothing store at a mall. CBS Studios and studio-based Tennenbaum Co are producing,...
