While, Hulu is not as flashy as some of the other streaming services like Netflix, Max, and Disney+, it has a solid library of shows that are both originals and licensed through various studios. Regarding sci-fi shows, Hulu doesn’t have any big names like 3 Body Problem or Westworld, but it makes up for that by carrying some great new and old shows like Devs and The X-Files, which were loved by millions of people. So, we thought of making a list of the best sci-fi TV shows you can find on Hulu right now.

For director Maria Schrader, “She Said” was more than a truthful and thrilling recreation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning, #MeToo-bolstering New York Times report that exposed Harvey Weinstein’s decades of sexual abuse and harassment. It was also about the personal stories of New York Times journalists Jodi Kantor (Zoe Kazan) and Megan Twohey (Carey Mulligan). This made it a more complex and emotionally resonant film about female empowerment and the “crucible of motherhood,” which Schrader’s go-to editor, Hansjörg Weißbrich, leaned into.
“This was an investigative thriller and a more important aspect — their private life and how they got to know each other as a result of the collaboration,” Weißbrich told IndieWire. “This was an additional storyline that wasn’t in the book.”
But that first required Schrader and screenwriter Rebecca Lenkiewicz to gain the trust of Kantor and Twohey, to let them include their struggle with parenting along with...

Plot: New York Times journalists Megan Twohey (Carey Mulligan) and Jodi Kantor (Zoe Kazan) try to break the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault story but are met with opposition from the vast network of silence and intimidation that protected the former Miramax head.
Review: Long before #MeToo, there had been rumblings about what kind of predator Harvey Weinstein was, even far outside Hollywood circles. Yet, even though he was infamous in this regard, he was still celebrated and while people may look back now and say they didn’t know – that’s been proven not to be the case over and over. All this leaves She Said in a tricky position, as it’s a movie about breaking the Harvey Weinstein story produced by a major studio (Universal) inside this system that protected him. To that extent, She Said smartly focuses on the excellent investigative work done by Twohey and Kantor,...

This article contains spoilers for a major plot point in "Devs."
As a filmmaker, Alex Garland has shown himself adept at tackling profound questions while maneuvering between science fiction and horror, sometimes within the same movie. You can see it carried forward from his early screenwriting projects like "28 Days Later" and "Sunshine," to later directorial efforts like "Annihilation" and "Men."
In 2020, Garland made the jump to streaming TV with "Devs," an Emmy-nominated FX on Hulu miniseries starring his previous "Ex Machina" collaborator, Sonoya Mizuno, along with Nick Offerman, Jin Ha, Alison Pill, Cailee Spaeny, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zach Grenier, Jefferson Hall, and Karl Glusman. Although their characters are all smooth talking legal experts on Paramount+ series “The Good Fight,” occasionally, some of the actors flub a line or two. And this is documented hilariously in this gag reel clip from the DVD release of Season 5, exclusive to TheWrap.
Mandy Patinkin, who plays Judge Wackner, is first up in the video, combining recess and research into a brand new word. Then Jane Curtin, who plays Judge Farley, replaces one defendant’s name for another. You can see more of the moments that left the cast chuckling in the video at the top of this page.

Mandy Patinkin’s Judge Hal Wackner, the latest kooky character on the Paramount+ series “The Good Fight,” makes his litigants end each lawsuit by saying to one another, “I respect and I love you.” Critics have shared the exact same sentiment about this criminally underrated series, which has been earning some of the best notices of its entire run for its brilliantly bizarre fifth season that wraps up on Thursday.
Its new characters, including Patinkin’s Wackner and Charmaine Bingwa‘s enigmatic new lawyer Carmen Moyo, topical episodes on medical racism in the treatment of Covid-19 and hilarious, moving visits from historical figures like Elaine May’s Ruth Bader Ginsberg have earned the plaudits of critics. Kevin Fallon (Daily Beast) calls the season “flawless,” writing that the show is “having what may be its best season ever,” including “the most thrilling stretch of episodes in a TV series this year.

By the time you’re done screening The Good Fight‘s Season 5 trailer, you might have the same question as Zach Grenier’s David Lee: “What the f—k is going on?”
The two-minute promo (embedded above) teases more of the legal drama’s slightly absurdist storytelling, including the addition of Mandy Patinkin’s peculiar new judge, appropriately named Hal Wackner. When Hal decides to open his own courtroom in the back of a copy shop — a venture he describes as Little Rascals-esque — Marissa (Sarah Steele) and the firm become entangled with Hal’s endeavor, which looks even more bizarre than it sounds.

Original The Good Fight cast members Cush Jumbo and Delroy Lindo, who announced last year that they would not return for Season 5 of the Paramount+ legal drama, will return as guest stars in the season premiere to wrap up their characters’ storylines, Deadline has confirmed.

Exclusive: The Good Fight is getting a high-profile new cast addition for Season 5. Emmy and Tony winner Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) is joining the praised Paramount+ drama series as a series regular with a one-year deal.
Patinkin will play Hal Wackner, a layman with no legal training who spontaneously decides to open a court in the back of a copy shop. Against all odds, the court catches on, and the team at Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart find themselves contending with judgements that mean nothing legally, but are honored by much of the entertained public.
This marks Patinkin’s return to television following his eight-season run as CIA vet Saul Berenson on Showtime’s Homeland, which landed him a Golden Globe nomination and four out of his seven Emmy nominations. Patinkin won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role as Dr. Jeffrey Geiger on CBS’ Chicago Hope.

Ray Donovan fans will, after all, get a satisfactory ending to their favorite Showtime series.
The fixer is returning in a feature-length film, which will pick up where season seven left off after its surprise cancellation last year.
Liev Schreiber will return as Donovan and will co-write the script with series showrunner David Hollander, who will direct. Jon Voight will also reprise his role as Mickey Donovan, as will Kerris Dorsey as Ray’s daughter Bridget.
Production is tentatively scheduled to begin later this year in New York.
It comes after Showtime made the surprise decision to end the series in February 2020 with its seventh season. Hollander admitted that the show’s creative team had been blindsided by the decision and Schreiber took to social media to promise that “there will be more Ray Donovan”. The actor has kept his promise.

Exclusive: Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart has made a new attorney hire. Charmaine Bingwa (Black Box) is joining the cast of CBS All Access/Paramount+’s drama The Good Fight as a series regular in the upcoming fifth season.
She will play Carmen Moyo, a tough, unsentimental, young lawyer whose working-class background allows her to bond with Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart’s most infamous, difficult clients.
“We are thrilled that Charmaine is bringing her enormous talents to The Good Fight ensemble,” co-creators/executive producers Michelle and Robert King said. “The moment that we saw her audition, we knew that we had found our Carmen, and we can’t wait to start writing for her in Season 5.”
Bingwa is expected to fill the void left by the departure of original cast member Cush Jumbo who, along with fellow original star Delroy Lindo, exited as series regulars at the end of Season 4.

On election night 2016, CBS All Access’ “The Good Fight” was filming its pilot episode, which had baked into its premise the assumption that Hillary Clinton would win the presidency. Her loss not only inspired the show’s opening scene, in which Christine Baranski’s feminist attorney Diane Lockhart watches Donald J. Trump’s inauguration aghast, but also proved kismet for the series, which fast became the most incisive political satire of the Trump era. With Trump’s tenure now ended, will Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild voters finally honor this delightfully bonkers legal thriller with first-ever nominations?
Although perennially overlooked at the Primetime Emmy Awards, “The Good Fight” has been a mainstay at the Critics’ Choice Awards. It just nabbed nominations for Best Drama Series and Best Actress for Baranski, bringing its total haul to 10 nominations over its four seasons. All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until July 13 to cast their 2020 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for programs (save for animated documentary/nonfiction which are restricted to their peer groups). Unlike the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally. In the past, voters were limited in the number of programs that they could put forth. Three years ago that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted.
While there has been an explosion in the number of comedy and drama series recently, the limited series genre had been almost static. There were 25 entries in 2015, 26 in 2016 and 25 again in 2017. But there has been an uptick as of late, with 33 such shows submitted in 2018, 35 last year and 41 for this awards cycle. Even so, with five nominees for Best Limited Series, the odds for each of the entries detailed below is pretty good.

The official synopsis for the Season 4 premiere “The Gang Deals with Alternate Reality”: “Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) finds herself living in an alternate reality where Donald Trump was never elected and Hillary Clinton is the current President of the United States.

Stephen King isn’t afraid to throw out recommendations for movies and television shows to watch, to the extent that we’ve recently compiled a list of all the Netflix titles he’s ever suggested. Indeed, just a few weeks ago, King was talking up Da 5 Bloods, Spike Lee’s feature for the streaming platform. But he’s also given the thumbs up this week to the Alex Garland Hulu/FX series Devs, which has been winning praise since launching back in March this year.
The author had to this to say on Twitter about Devs:
“Devs (Hulu/FX) is brainy, beautiful, and mind-bending. I was totally engrossed. If you decide to watch, go into it cold, knowing nothing. Better that way.”
Garland’s show focuses on a software engineer working for a Silicon Valley tech company who begins investigating her boyfriend’s apparent suicide, believing that there...

Cush Jumbo will not be returning to “The Good Fight” when the CBS All Access show comes back for its fifth season, Variety has confirmed.
“I have had the most amazing time over the last five years working with Robert, Michelle and the crews of both ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘The Good Fight,'” Jumbo said. “I will miss them all so much, but am so excited to explore pastures new. Due to the pandemic forcing us to shut down early we weren’t able to wrap up Lucca’s story fully and so I hope if schedules allow I can return next season to do that.”

“The Good Fight” still has some punches left to throw.
CBS All Access has renewed the drama for season 5, while also conceding that the current season will have to be curtailed to only seven episodes due to the coronavirus production shutdown. The seventh, and now final episode of season 4 will debut on the service May 28.
Season 4 was originally slated to last 10 episodes, but the abrupt pandemic-related halt in mid-March has forced showrunners Robert and Michelle King to re-think their plans.
“It’s been weird to not be able to finish the fourth season,” said the Kings. “It left the story in even more absurd a place than usual. So we’re thrilled that CBS All Access wants to bring ‘The Good Fight’ back for an additional season, and we know what story we’re planning to tell. It’s like getting the answers to the Sat ahead of time.”

In the climactic final scene of its second hour, creator Alex Garland's Devs forces viewers to watch in unflinching detail as two spies fight for their lives. One wins and one loses, slowly and badly, his head pushed against a car tire with such force until it breaks the man's neck. Through it all, there's the sneering red-faced victor, Zach Grenier's nightmarish fixer Kenton, himself bleeding out from the battle, triumphant all the same. Low's "Congregation" serves as the score for the scene, a haunting underline beneath the brutally slow fight to the death:

CBS All Access shared the first trailer for the fourth season of “The Good Fight” on Monday, and Diane Lockhart is ready to get back to work.
The trailer sees Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart trying to get to the bottom of the mysterious “Memo 618,” which, as Diane explains, “seems to allow rich and powerful people not to comply with judicial rulings.”
Here’s CBS All Access’s description of the new season:
Season four of “The Good Fight” finds Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart navigating a very different landscape. After they lost their biggest client, Chumhum, and their founding partner’s name was tarnished, Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart was forced to accept an offer by a huge multi-national law firm, Str Laurie, to become a small subsidiary. One of the best drama series on television that you’re probably not watching returns for a fourth season on April 9, 2020. Yes, Season 4 of “The Good Fight” debuts on streamer CBS All Access in less than two weeks, with a doozy of an episode that sees Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) living in an alternate reality where Donald Trump was never elected, and Hillary Clinton is the current president of the United States. It’s maybe one of the finest hours of television you will see this year. Ahead of that premiere, CBS has released a trailer for the upcoming season, which you can check out below.

TV critics have been quite enamored by “The Good Fight,” CBS All Access’ spin-off from “The Good Wife,” which aired for seven seasons from 2009 to 2016. On its third season last year, the streaming series that launched in 2017 continued to hold up a mirror that reflected many of the conflicts and controversies in our nation’s legal system that have sprouted during the Trump administration.
But despite mostly positive reviews, “The Good Fight” has been mostly ignored come Emmy time save for its musical contributions — unlike its broadcast predecessor, which collected 39 nominations and five acting wins. Perhaps, this might be the year that Emmy salutes this highly relevant, thoughtful and well-acted show.

This Devs review contains spoilers.
Devs Episode 1 and Episode 2
The moment on which the first two episodes of Devs, Alex Garland’s sci-fi thriller-slash-existential meditation ministries for FX on Hulu, hinges comes near the end of the pilot. Tech millionaire Forest (Nick Offerman) confronts Sergei (Karl Glusman), the newest (and soon to be shortest-lived) employee of Devs, the super-secret division of Forest’s quantum computing company Amaya. Even though Sergei has stolen Devs’ intensely sensitive code, Forest isn’t mad, he’s disappointed: “This is forgiveness. This is absolution. You could only have done what you did.“
After this moment there will be Russian spies and exes and an honest-to-God vision of Jesus Christ. Before this moment there will be Lily (Sonoya Mizuno), Sergei’s software engineer girlfriend. But this exchange is key because it sums up what drives Devs, and Devs: Forest’s theory that the universe is deterministic,...

“I’m not sure you even understand what we’re really doing here,” quantum physicist Katie announces late in the new sci-fi thriller miniseries Devs.
Katie (Alison Pill) is addressing her coworkers on the eponymous project, a new technology allegedly so revolutionary and powerful that her boss, Forest (Nick Offerman), is willing to have people killed to protect it. She’s worried that none of her colleagues fully grasp the nature or implications of what their shiny new toy does. But she could just as easily be looking out at the audience in that moment.

The idea that the technology industry has the power not just to reshape the world in which we live but — through acts of creative destruction — build a new one overlaying and eventually supplanting it has been fertile territory for the arts in recent memory. Indeed, to this point, one of the bards of a precarious moment has been Alex Garland, whose films “Ex Machina” and “Annihilation” use the imaginative tools of sci-fi to examine how seismic change reshapes how we understand our selves and our ties to one another.
In a foray into TV — on a show whose every episode he wrote and directed — Garland doesn’t pull off the same trick again, delivering a product that delivers neither the wildly creative sense of tech’s possibilities nor the ground-level excavation of his characters. On FX’s “Devs,” streaming on Hulu starting March 2 as part of the cable network’s new arrangement,...
