Chances of a second season for Patricia Arquette's newest show have dried up. Apple TV+ has cancelled her High Desert series, according to the actress and executive producer. The show was created by Nancy Fichman, Katie Ford, and Jennifer Hoppe-House.

[This story contains spoilers from the season one finale of Apple TV+’s High Desert.]
Patricia Arquette’s Apple TV+ comedy High Desert ended its first-season finale with a literal bang.
The crime-focused series — focusing on Peggy’s (Patricia Arquette) chaotic life as a recovering drug addict trying to find a new path as a private investigator — wrapped up its eight-episode season with a violent conclusion. Peggy and Guru Bob (Rupert Friend) found themselves kidnapped over a missing painting but had their lives miraculously spared after Leo Gattchi (Michael Masini) and Nick Gattchi (Carmine Giovinazzo) somehow killed each other. Plus, Denny (Matt Dillon) managed to avoid the wrath of Heather (Julia Rickert) after her father died from a stray bullet.

"You're at the point of no return!" Apple TV+ has revealed the official trailer for a new comedy series titled High Desert, featuring episodes directed by comedy filmmaker Jay Roach. This will be streaming on Apple TV+ starting in May this summer. High Desert follows Peggy, an on-again-off-again addict who decides to make a new start after the death of her beloved mother, with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, and makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator. Matt Dillon will play Denny, Peggy’s ex, an undeniably charming parolee, and a relentless operator. Patricia Arquette stars as Peggy, with Dillon, Rupert Friend, Weruche Opia, Brad Garrett, plus guest stars Bernadette Peters, Christine Taylor, Carmine Giovinazzo, and Carlo Rota. This mostly looks like Patty Arquette is having the time of her life in this role, hamming it up in this kooky small town misadventure.

Batwoman changes pace this week and goes from a villain-of-the-week story to a heist storyline and the change of pace makes for a fun episode.
Batwoman kicks off the episode by breaking up a human trafficking ring that specializes in selling humans (still alive!) in order to harvest their organs. Batwoman beats up some nameless thugs that attack ninja-style, but in the process, the ringleader is able to escape. I’m hoping more is done with this group as a gang selling humans for organ harvesting is pretty dark and actually could be a way to connect the series to Black Lightning.
Mary, now knowing Kate’s secret, brings champagne to Kate’s office after Batwoman returns from making her crime-fighting rounds. Mary tries to make her point for joining the team,...

If you can envision “Let’s Be Cops” reconstituted as a noirish psychodrama, you may be adequately prepared for “Duke,” an uneven but arresting indie thriller about two siblings who are driven to heroic extremes by childhood traumas. Co-directed by twin brothers James and Anthony Gaudioso, who also appear in strikingly different supporting roles, the film sustains more than enough dramatic tension from scene to scene to keep a viewer intrigued, despite the sporadic fuzziness of motivation and plot specifics, though it faces long odds as it tries to distinguish itself among scads of similar small-budget efforts currently available on streaming platforms.
After a portentous prologue that hints at psychologically scarring childhood experiences at an institution referenced only as “The Home” — maybe an orphanage, maybe a reformatory — the narrative proper kicks in as Dare (Carmine Giovinazzo), a tightly wired undercover detective, and Roost (Michael Monks), a uniformed officer, are patrolling a West L.

Previously on Graceland, Mike discovered that yet another lawman is working undercover for the bad guys. This time, though, it isn't Briggs. The culprit is Sid Markham, head of the Lapd gang task force. There is no question of innocence this time around; "Los Malos" opens with a montage detailing how Markham has gotten away with ruining everything for the team over the last few days, from tipping off Carlito to killing Lawrence. In the present time, Mike waltzes up to Markham in a restaurant and calls him out for being a no good, very bad guy. Was this move smart or premature? Only time will tell.

The law was not on the side of television cop Carmine Giovinazzo.
Giovinazzo, who stars in "CSI: NY" as Detective Danny Messer, was arrested for DUI in Scottsdale, Ariz., last week, according to TMZ. The 39-year-old was reportedly seen driving erratically on the road around 2:40 a.m. on Jan. 21. When cops pulled him over he had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol.

He was "immediately apologetic and told [officers] he had been driving erratic because he was lost and using the Gps," an officer told TMZ. "[Carmine] thanked me many times for not treating him like a criminal and showing him respect."
After the DUI arrest, Giovinazzo was issued a citation and released from jail around 4:30 a.

A couple make small talk at dinner, interspersed with flashes of what is about to befall them. Their home is invaded and the husband is killed presumably during the attack. It was apparent their marriage is over. Flack (Eddie Cahill) says the wife called for help which must have been a feat itself considering she was bound, gagged and in the bedroom. There were two intruders and both wore ski masks, what we'd call balaclavas. The daughter Megan, (Heather Sossaman) was at the movie theatre. Mac (Gary Sinise) questions all the houses in the neighbourhood to find out "why the attackers chose this one?" Lindsay (Anna Belknap) processes the Cs as we get more flashes of the events from the night. She finds a ski mask under the husband, Ron's (Vincent Ventresca) Db and the empty box that was delivered. Jo (Sela Ward) finds a hair from a slashed painting.

Sid (Robert Joy) is out of autopsy again and gasoline was used. Mac (Gary Sinise) claims he was dead before he got here. Flack (Eddie Cahill) is canvassing the area for a murder weapon and Jo asks, "expecting the dead to speak." The Db was hit before the fall. Nice moment between Jo and Flack that's what gives this show so much more in terms of character development and why it deserves to continue. That and great storylines. Oh okay I've had my rant at the beginning, never mind! The Db has four phones on him, which Flack calls overkill Mac: "...so does dying in somebody else's grave."
