Exclusive: U.S. financier Mizzel Media has backed its second movie: indie feature Rebel Girl, starring Oscar nominee Amy Madigan (Twice in a Lifetime), newcomer Sadie Jensen-Blank (#Horror) and Erik Jensen (The Walking Dead).

New York-based Mizzel, which earlier this year invested in The Girl From Köln, the next film from Holy Spider and The Tale outfit One Two Films, is overseen by producer and veteran manager Lillian Lasalle.

Rebel Girl, currently filming in Minnesota under a SAG Ia, is being helmed by co-writing-directing team Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen with a script co-written by Han Shan.

The film will chart the story of headstrong 14-year-old Maisie (Jensen Blank) and her artist dad Kurt (Jensen) who must leave the confines of their Brooklyn bubble to return to Kurt’s Minnesotan childhood home where Maisie upends old family patterns, falls in love, and forces her family to confront each other and themselves.

The beloved actor was set to lead an Amazon drama series based on the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild.”

But it sounds like the Tiger King craze is coming to a close with a thud.

“I think Amazon ultimately felt that it was material that had become past tense because it took so long for it come together,” Cage said to Variety of the decision.

“They felt at one point that it was lightning in a bottle, but that point has since faded into the distance and it’s no longer relevant.”

The Twin Peaks and Desperate Housewives star has been set for a key role opposite Kate McKinnon and John Cameron Mitchell in the upcoming Peacock limited series based on the Wondery podcast.

MacLachlan is set to play Howard Baskin.

The series will center around Baskin, Exotic, and the tigers they famously tussled over.

The insanity begins when Baskin learns that her sworn nemesis is breeding and using his menagerie for profit.

Netflix and CD Projekt Red have unveiled the schedule for WitcherCon, the first-ever virtual event dedicated to The Witcher universe.

Hosted by Julia Hardy, the event will consist of two live streams that will both contain exclusive short-form content and production insights. Available on both Twitch and YouTube, the events will stream on July 9 at 1 p.m. Et and July 10 at 9 p.m. Et.

TBS has slotted Tuesday, April 7 for the season three premiere of its hit sitcom The Last O.G., starring Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish.

Co-created and executive produced by Oscar winner Jordan Peele, The Last O.G. has ranked as cable’s #1 sitcom since its 2018 launch.

In season 3, after serving his time at the halfway house and having his food truck go up in flames, Tray (Morgan) is forced into finding a new place to live, and new forms of income. He lands in gentrified Brooklyn with a host of colorful, hipster neighbors, where he begins to give “hood legend” walking tours of the city that is forever changing around him. “In Dubious Battle” is not the first movie about a labor strike with Robert Duvall as the antagonizing boss man; that honor goes to the 1992 Disney musical starring Christian Bale, “Newsies,” in which Duvall portrayed Joseph Pulitzer. “Newsies” went on to receive five Golden Raspberry Award nominations, but it contained more drama and gusto than this humorless dirge from director-star James Franco.

This smug period drama follows the conventional narrative of an idealistic revolutionary and his fearless leader as they incite a strike among apple pickers in California’s fictional Torgas Valley. Matt Rager adapted the script from John Steinbeck’s 1936 novel, and the film is largely based on events that occurred during the California labor strikes of 1933.

Nominees for the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® for outstanding individual, cast and ensemble performances in film and television of 2015, as well as the nominees for outstanding action performances by film and television stunt ensembles were announced this morning at the Pacific Design Center’s SilverScreen Theater in West Hollywood.

SAG-aftra Executive Vice President Gabrielle Carteris introduced Anna Faris (Mom, The House Bunny) and Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Hurt Locker), who announced the nominees for this year’s Actors® live on TNT, TBS, truTV, sagawards.tntdrama.com and truTV.com. Prior to that, SAG Awards Committee Chair JoBeth Williams and Committee Member Jason George announced the stunt ensemble nominees during a live webcast on sagawards.tntdrama.com. A morning full of eye-opening surprises, the nominations for the 22nd Screen Actors Guild nominations were announced.

The standout nods were the inclusion of Straight Outta Compton, Beasts Of No Nation, Sarah Silverman, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Idris Elba and two for Dame Helen Mirren.

Not among the perceived hopefuls called were Sylvester Stallone, Charlotte Rampling, Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, The Martian and The Hateful Eight.

Two nominating panels – one for television and one for film – each composed of 2,200 randomly selected union members from across the United States, chose this year’s nominees.

Some of the Sags choices were head-scratchers to be sure, but we’re thinking that the Oscar picks may be very different when The Academy announces their nominations next month live on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 5:30 a.m. Pt at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Hollywood blacklist drama Trumbo has led the nominations for the 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards with three nods for lead actor Bryan Cranston, supporting actress Helen Mirren and the ensemble cast. The Martian and The Hateful Eight were shut out.

Set in 1947, the film centres on Dalton Trumbo (Cranston), who was Hollywood’s top screenwriter, until he and other artists were jailed and blacklisted for their political beliefs.

Cranston will go up against Johnny Depp for Black Mass, Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant, Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs and Eddie Redmayne for The Danish Girl.

Films that secured two nominations included Beasts Of No Nation, The Big Short, Carol, The Danish Girl, Room, Spotlight - whose outstanding cast nod will only strengthen its status as best picture Oscar frontrunner — and Steve Jobs.

The 22nd annual SAG Awards nominations were announced this morning and it's full of surprises! Sylvester Stallone, loved by critics and the National Board of Review for his performance in "Creed," was ignored. So was Kristen Stewart's supporting performance in "Clouds of Sils Maria." Matt Damon, who was so good and carried "The Martian" from start to finish, was also missing from the list.

But here's what I love about the SAG noms. First, Sarah Silverman's first dramatic performance in "I Smile Back" was embraced. And I'm also happy with the inclusion of "Room's" Brie Larson and the fantastic child actor, Jacob Tremblay. The endearing "Carol" also received noms for both Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, and Saoirse Ronan's performance in the beautiful "Brooklyn" also received a nomination.

The 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be presented January 30, 2016 on TNT and TBS. So you have a little over a month to check out "Trumbo," "The Big Short," "Carol," and a bunch of other movies and TV shows that may not have been on your radar before awards season.

Nominees for the 22nd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were unveiled this morning in Hollywood, with a fair amount of surprises to be had. Leading the pack is Trumbo, which picked up three nominations, then a large batch of films behind it with two each: Beasts of No Nation, The Big Short, Carol, The Danish Girl, Room, Spotlight, and Steve Jobs.

Perhaps most surprising is no mention of The Hateful Eight, which has one of the year’s best ensembles. Also of questionable note is the inclusion of Helen Mirren for Woman in Gold, a film all but forgotten (we suppose Harvey Weinstein’s campaigning indeed worked). There’s also the welcome nods to Michael Shannon in 99 Homes and Sarah Silverman in I Smile Back, as well as an ensemble nod to Straight Outta Compton. SAG-aftra presented its coveted Actor statuettes for the outstanding motion picture and primetime television performances of 2014 at the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in ceremonies attended by film and television’s leading actors, held Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.

The Actor for a motion picture cast performance went this year to Birdman.

Nominees for the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performances in 2014 in five film and eight television categories, as well as the SAG Awards honors for outstanding action performances by film and television stunt ensembles were announced this morning in Los Angeles at the Pacific Design Center’s SilverScreen Theater in West Hollywood.

The 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominations were revealed Wednesday morning, serving as yet another precursor on the long road to the Oscars.

In the film categories, Birdman was the big winner, scoring four nominations, including for Michael Keaton, Edward Norton and Emma Stone, as well as the collective ensemble cast. Boyhood followed right in its footsteps with three nods for Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette and another ensemble nomination.

The big surprises of the morning’s nominations started with Jake Gyllenhaal for Nightcrawler, a bubble contender in a crowded Best Actor race, Jennifer Aniston for Cake, a bubble contender in a disappointingly less crowded Best Actress race, Robert Duvall in the poorly reviewed The Judge and Naomi Watts for St. Vincent (Watts was in Birdman as well, but that must’ve slipped SAG’s minds).

But I'm also an actor, I front a rock band, I'm a DJ, film editor, and director as well. Basically, when it comes to entertainment, there's nothing I don't do. Here is the full list of nominations for the 21st annual SAG Awards, which were announced this morning at La’s Pacific Design Center.

Fox Searchlight topped the film studios with six nominations, led by Alexander Gonzales Inarritu’s Birdman, which nabbed four total nominations: for Outstanding Cast, which is the closest thing the guild has to a Best Picture category; and for star Michael Keaton and supporting actors Edward Norton and Emma Stone. It was joined in the top cast category by IFC Films’ Boyhood, which also got nods for its co-stars Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette; Searchlight’s Wes Anderson pic The Grand Budapest Hotel; the Weinstein Co’s The Imitation Game; and Focus Features’ The Theory Of Everything. The basic premise for this comedy is decent. There’s not a man in the world that would not die for a chance to wreak vengeance on an ‘ex’ he hates. Sadly director Andy Tennant, who gave us the charming romantic comedy ‘Hitch’, wastes his chances at both comedy and action with outdated and worn out cliches.

I Sell the Dead made a move to DVD and Blu-Ray today, with extras now available. The film stars Dominic Monaghan (Lost), Larry Fessenden (Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever), Angus Scrimm (Wishmaster), and Ron Pearlman (Dark Country) as two grave robbers who bite off too much of the supernatural to chew. Bonus features run the gamut of cast and director commentaries to making of featurettes (visual effects). A blend of the comedic, action, and horror genres, I Sell the Dead was one of the better releases from 2009. More details on this title below.

This Tuesday, March 30th, is the long awaited DVD/Blu-ray release date of Glenn McQuaid's I Sell the Dead, and our trilogy of interviews with its cast and crew continues with the one -- the only -- Angus Scrimm, who portrays the character of Dr. Vernon Quint in the film.

Elaine Lamkin: Thank you for taking time to do this interview with me, Angus. First question – how did you find yourself playing Dr. Quint in I Sell the Dead? What was the attraction? And how would you describe the good doctor, whose exit from the film is both hilarious and well-deserved?

Angus Scrimm: In January, 2008, this ruddy-cheeked Irish fellow with a perpetual twinkle in his eye turned up at the Burbank, California, studio where Larry Fessenden was filming the infamous rant I contributed to Jim McKenney's Automatons DVD "extras." Undeterred by what he saw, he offered me the role of Dr.

Columbia Pictures released their new action/comedy movie entitled "The Bounty Hunter" this weekend,and I have to admit it was better than I thought it would be. It was actually pretty funny,and had some good action scenes mixed in towards the end. And that Jennifer Aniston is just a 40 somthin year old Hottie. I've always been a fan of hers. The movie stars: Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler, Jason Sudeikis, Dorian Missick, Joel Marsh Garland, and Christine Baranski. "The Bounty Hunter" revolved around characters Nicole Hurly (Jennifer Aniston) and Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler). They used to be married to each other. Nicole is a very intense reporter who's not afraid to get into the thick of things. Milo is an ex-cop who got kicked off the force,and is now a bounty hunter for a bail bondsman.
