Graeme was born in Aberdeen and brought up in Preston by his father who was
a doctor and intended to follow him and studied at Cambridge where he
discovered acting but continued his studies at kings College Hospital in London
where he shared a flat with Eric Idle. They joined Tim Brooke Taylor and set up
Broaden Your Mind for BBC 2. He qualified as a Dr at the same time as getting an
offer to be in a tv series 'Twice a Fortnight with Germaine Greer and Bill Odie and
felt he could put his medical career on the side for a few months as he would never
get another offer of television. He got together with Bill and Tim and created The
Goodies which ran for 2 series for Yorkshire TV and Sense of the Past on local
history and with Bill provided the voices for Bananaman cartoons. He adapted
some P.G. Wodehouse stories for tv, wrote the novel The Seventh Man and wrote
the film script from the novel and 'Graeme Garden's Book of Medical Humour'
