During high school, studied comedy writing with Danny Simon. For college: studied theater at Northwestern and screenwriting at NYU.
Big break in 1987: at 23, was picked to direct a short for Columbia Pictures' Discovery program, under Chairman David Putnam. Fox wrote & directed the award winning "The Great O'Grady" which premiered at Sundance and led to him selling "So I Married An Axe Murderer" to Columbia and a directing deal at Disney for Chairman Jeff Katzenberg.
In addition to listed credits, did uncredited polishes for various TV and movies including My Girl (1991) with Dan Aykroyd & Macaulay Culkin, Disney's animated Runaway Brain (1995) and Universal's 2017 version of Woody Woodpecker (2017).
For the stage, wrote book for an original musical called "Complications" for director Herbert Ross, which work-shopped at the Manhattan Theater Club in New York (1998) and later ran at the Tiffany Theater in Los Angeles (2000), under the title "The Gift" starring Alicia Witt and under Andy Fickman's direction.
Summer 2022: Kevin Hart & Woody Harrelson are starring in Robbie Fox's action comedy "The Man From Toronto" (Story by Fox & Jason Blumenthal), produced by Escape Artists Productions for Sony Pictures & Netflix. The movie was the #1 most viewed movie on Netflix in its first two weeks of release-- garnering over 115 million hours.
Upcoming: Fox sold an original comedy-thriller called "Run For Your Wife" to Netflix, that will be produced by Jason Blumenthal & Todd Black at Escape Artists.
