Ted Dykstra grew up in St Albert Alberta, and became a professional actor at the age of 15 in nearby Edmonton. He is one of Canada's leading theatre artists, having acted, directed, written, produced and composed for every major stage in the country. He is a founding member of Toronto's Soulpepper Theatre and with his wife Diana Bentley founded and runs The Coal Mine Theatre in Toronto. He has received 6 Dora Mavor Moore Awards (Canada's Tonys) for acting, musical direction and producing, as well as a Gemini Award for acting, a Chalmers Award for writing, a Merritt Award for directing and a Sterling Award for Musical Direction. He is the proud father of Theo, Rosie and Henry!
