Husband Maxwell Joseph Hall Turner (1907-1960) was a barrister-at-law, Queen's Counsel and from 1958 a judge of the Mayor's and City of London Court . She retired for nearly a decade following their 1938 marriage. The couple had one child, a daughter named Deirdre (born March 1940).

She was made an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in the 1987 Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to drama.
