Isabelle Doval is a French screenwriter and director. Before writing stories and making movies, she was a professional musical theater dancer and singer in shows like " Cabaret " and " Kiss me Kate" . She transitioned into cinema by becoming an actress. Especially at the "comédie française" for 2 years and in different plays directed by Jerôme Savary and Alain Marcel.
Isabelle Doval appeared in several films under the name Isabelle Dinelli; she was featured in 1996 in « Le plus beau métier du monde » in 1998 in « Comme Une bête » et « Comme un Poisson hors de l'eau » and in 2001 in « La Vérité si je mens 2.» However, those short roles remain rather confidential, as the young woman is working on a larger project.
Favoring directing, she made her first short films in 1996, including « Déçues » in 1999, as part of an anti-drug awareness campaign. There she met the producer Luc Besson and Michel Propper, who offered her the opportunity to make her first feature film. A year after writing the screenplay, she proposed the main role of the comedy « Rire et châtiment » (« Laughter and punishment ») to the famous french actor, José Garcia, recounting the tragic-comic adventures of a funny man who makes people laugh until they die. Continuing her career in filmmaking, she directed her second feature film in 2008 with « Un château en Espagne», the story of friendship between two children. Five years later, she gave birth to her third film: « Fonzy ». the french remake of the successful Quebec film (Starbuck) telling the story of a man who discovers he is the father of 533 children. On this occasion, she once again offered the leading role to José Garcia. In 2017, she co-directed the french TV show « Quadras » a story of a man who goes through a midlife crisis and who leaves his wife for another. In 2019, "Quadras" is adapted by Top Kapinos for Fox TV as a remake: « Lovestruck ». In 2018, She directed her latest movie « Abdel et la comtesse », an encounter between a countess and a young man who comes from the ghetto.
