- Son of Gérard Depardieu and Elisabeth Depardieu.
- Contracted an infection while being treated in an hospital for a leg-wound following a motorbike accident. The infection proved to be extremely resistant to antibiotics and, after almost 2 years in and out of treatment and a great deal of pain with no end in sight, he decided to have his leg amputated.
- He died at the Raymond-Poincaré Hospital in Garches, west of Paris, on October 13 2008 (aged 37), after contracting severe pneumonia whilst filming The Childhood of Icarus (2009) on location in Romania. His funeral was held in Notre Dame Church in Bougival, near to his home in Paris. He is buried in Bougival Cemetery.

- He and his father Gérard Depardieu have both shared a role with José Ferrer. His father shared Ferrer's Oscar-winning role of Cyrano de Bergerac (1990), earning himself his own Oscar nomination in the process. Guillaume appeared in Milady and the Three Musketeers (2004) as the Musketeer Athos, a part played by Ferrer in The Fifth Musketeer (1979). Gerard played a different Musketeer, Porthos, in The Man in the Iron Mask (1998) which, like The Fifth Musketeer, was based on The Viscount of Bragelonne.

(1980)(TV)', Jean Valjean/Edmond Dantes), and one of his closest friends (Brandon Lee, Vincent Perez) has played The Crow.
