Chad Ferrin, director of the superb horror comedy Exorcism at 30,000 Feet, is back behind the camera – this time as writer And director of this H.P. Lovecraft inspired horror that feels very much like a throwback to the the work of Stuart Gordon and Brian Yuzna – both of whom tackled the very same Lovecraftian-inspired themes in their work.

The Deep Ones sees a married couple, Alex (Gina La Piana) and Petri (Johann Urb) renting a beach side Airbnb only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbours and occurrences. This being a horror film the pair soon discover that they are in the grips of a mysterious cult and their ancient sea god.

A crowd awaits the opening of Digital Convertor for Black Friday. As a man searches for his wallet, the crowd get restless and frenzied. A woman is trampled; as a girl lets go of her father's hand and wanders off. Whilst at Cal's (Tim Roth) a boy, Max (Daniel Ross) hires Cal to find if he is James Knox, who was kidnapped. Lots of cold case solving in this show. He shows Cal the scar on his body and pays him. Gillian (Kelli Williams) can't believe he took his money. Hey I said that. Cal allows Max to question his current parents, the Roland's and advises him not to back down on anything. Max took a DNA test and found he isn't related. Eli (Brendan Hines) has the photo of the footage from the store and Bernardo (Shashawnee Hall) hires them to show they're not at fault, thus significantly reducing the settlement payout.

A singer bursts into flames on stage and is pronounced dead by the EMTs. Ryan (Jonathan Togo) points out their evidence is on the gurney, but her doctor, Dr Beckham (Alan Ruck) isn't interested. Ryan did however manage to snag the costume. Calleigh (Emily Procter) wonders how the world's greatest popstar could have caught fire and survived. Ryan says she didn't survive. Horatio (David Caruso) arrives. The way Horatio drove to the Cs in slow motion with the crowd outside, looked like they were all waiting to see him! Me Tom (Christian Clemenson) is in a bit of a huff since he can't get access to the Vic. Horatio telling them to get out of his way, cos he's taking charge of the situation. Me Tom doesn't see any signs of edema from the lungs so she wasn't breathing when on fire. Horatio spells it out, "She was already dead.
