Michael Cummings made his professional acting debut in Bergen, Norway
at Den Nationale Scene (the same theater where
Henrik Ibsen started) in a production of
Ibsen's "A Wild Duck". While living in Norway, Michael developed a
"literary tour" that he performed for the men and women and the
families of those who work on the oil platforms in the North Sea. At
the same time, he worked as a translator for a Norwegian playwright.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Theater, Michael acted professionally for a year in MN before moving to Los Angeles. Among many other venues, Michael performed at the internationally famous Children's Theater Company, and worked in dozens of commercials and industrials.
In Los Angeles, Michael mixed stage, film and TV: He landed roles on Drop-Out Father (1982) with Dick Van Dyke, Miracle on Ice (1981) with Karl Malden, The Family Tree (1983) with Melora Hardin, Desperate Lives (1982) with Diana Scarwid and several Shakespeare productions on PBS. On stage, Michael created The Scandinavian Theater Company and served as artistic director for its first five years. He also acted at numerous Los Angeles theater venues as well as various regional theaters. Michael has performed in over fifty television commercials -some of which were major national campaigns.
In 1989, Michael went into corporate sales where he was very successful. After twenty years in the corporate world, Michael has recently gotten back into the acting scene where he is excited to be evaluating projects, including some with his wife of 23 years, Maureen McCormick.
