- Oscar and Emmy-nominated cinematographer. Winner of two Clio Awards (the most coveted prize in the advertising industry) for his Marlboro and Max Factor commercials. Died of AIDS.
- Besides being a cinematographer, Jimmy was a stage magician, Aubrey the Magician. He appeared several times on the early ABC show "You Ask For It" and performed at Disneyland. It was through his connections on "You Ask For It' that he got into cinematography. In his later years, he no longer performed professionally but would continue to practice slide-of-hand card tricks to relax after a day on the set.

- The Karate Kid Part III (1989) is dedicated to his memory, as he passed away a month before its release. Crabe was the cinematographer of the two previous films of the franchise, and also a frequent collaborator of director John G. Avildsen in other films.
