The latest episode of “The Morning Show” packed a topical conversation about systemic racism in media into one of its classic showdowns. In the aftermath of a companywide data leak, the Apple TV+ drama saw Uba Board President Cybil Richards (Holland Taylor) and “Morning Show” anchor Christina Hunter (Nicole Beharie) go on air together to discuss disparaging comments the media executive made during the former Olympian’s hiring process in a now-public email.
Executive producer Mimi Leder — who directed the first two episodes, the sixth and the finale of the most recent season — said Season 3 examines the layers of racism, ageism and politics impacting the legacy media business through Uba’s struggles. These pressure points reach a peak when the value of diversity in the Uba newsroom and network come into question following the cyber attack into the system in Episode 3.
“We introduced a new character, Chris Hunter. She’s an Olympic gold medalist.

9-1-1: Lone Star momentarily stopped trying to kill off its entire cast on Monday to catch up with someone from Mateo’s past. Because Lone Star is always gonna Lone Star, the episode was still thoroughly heartbreaking.
It all began when Mateo got a call to pick up his “father” from the bar, which was weird for two reasons: Not only does his father not drink, but he also lives in Mexico. The man turned out to be Mateo’s old boss Captain Tatum (played by Jack Conley), who was drowning his sorrows after losing a member of...

Legend has it that the Coen Brothers penned this dark satire back in the 1980s, around the time of Blood Simple. So it’s interesting the extent to which Suburbicon feels like a product of our time – that is, a reflection of Us anxieties about race, immigration and social cohesion.
The film’s title refers to a fictional, yet depressingly plausible, 1950s experiment: a 60,000-strong utopian community comprised purely of white people, content and complacent behind a bulwark of quaint picket fences. (The faux promo which opens the film is like something out of a Fallout game.) We join the story at the moment when the first African-American family, the Myers, moves into the neighbourhood.
Suburbicon rapidly descends into criminality. But it’s nothing to do with the Myers.

On paper, few 2017 releases should be safer Academy Award plays than Suburbicon. After all, it has George Clooney behind the camera, the Coen Brothers co-writing, as well as Matt Damon and Julianne Moore in starring roles. Throw in a supporting turn from Oscar Isaac and the ingredients are all there for something irresistible. And yet, this is one of the year’s more disappointing films. It opens in theaters this week and will hope to reverse the at best mixed buzz that has followed the flick on the fall festival circuit. There’s ambition on display here, though unfortunately it just never comes together in a satisfying way. A period piece satire, set in the utopian style community of Suburbicon, we see two events shape the entire community. One is the arrival of the first African American family into the town, while the other is a home invasion. The Meyers...

"Any new progress on the investigation?" Paramount has debuted a second official trailer for Suburbicon, the Coen Brothers dark comedy directed by George Clooney. This premiered at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals recently, and will hit theaters next month for those who still want to see it. Set in 1959 in a "peaceful, idyllic suburban community" that is rattled by a home invasion, a death starts to reveal the town's "dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence". Starring Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Noah Jupe, Megan Ferguson, Jack Conley, and Oscar Isaac. This new trailer sell this much differently than the first trailer, which is a bit deceptive in what it's showing us. This trailer also has a bunch of quotes from critics, including two from yours truly in my Venice review. I'm happy to support a film I enjoyed quite a bit. Here's the second Us trailer (+ new poster) for George Clooney's Suburbicon,...

"Right now your path looks pretty bleak." Entertainment One in the UK has debuted an official UK trailer for Suburbicon, a new dark comedy written and directed by George Clooney. This film is premiering at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals in just a few weeks, so expect to hear lots of buzz. This looks so damn good, I'm already sold and already ready to just watch and laugh and enjoy it. This is a good trailer but it spoils the amusing reveal at the end with Damon riding away, oh well, no worries. "Welcome to Suburbicon! A town of wonder and excitement." Here's the official UK...

Catching up on a Trailer debut from a few days ago here (we also got a Teaser for mother! yesterday, but there’s a full Trailer coming next week we’ll tackle). This one today is the major Oscar hopeful Suburbicon, coming to us as the latest directorial outing from George Clooney. Not only is Clooney teamed up with his partner Grant Heslov for this one, he also is working off of a script that the Coen Brothers once penned with an eye towards directing. You’ll be able to see this Trailer below, but first, you know the drill here…some discussion is in order. The film is a pitch black crime comedy of sorts. So far, the description for it is simply that a home invasion rattles a quiet family town. The town is the town of Suburbicon, and Gardner (Matt Damon) is a father and husband drawn...

"Nothing like this ever happened here." Paramount has revealed the first official trailer for Suburbicon, a new dark comedy written and directed by George Clooney. This film was just announced this week as a big premiere at both the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals coming up this fall. The film is set in 1959 in a "peaceful, idyllic suburban community" that is rattled by a home invasion which then begins to reveal the town's "dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence". Starring Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Noah Jupe, Megan Ferguson, Jack Conley, and Oscar Isaac. This looks totally wild and wacky, like an even darker and crazier Coen Brothers movie (who co-wrote the script so that makes sense). I'm so down for this. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for George Clooney's Suburbicon, direct from YouTube: Suburbicon is a peaceful, idyllic suburban community with affordable homes and manicured lawns...the...

The first trailer has been released for the crazy yet fun looking dark comedy Suburbicon. The film was written and directed by George Clooney and, as you'll see, it has a bit of a Coen Brothers flair to it. The movie looks freakin' great! I love the unexpected wild, dark, craziness of it all. This movie is gonna be a lot of fun to watch!
The movie also has an incredible cast that includes Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Noah Jupe, Megan Ferguson, Jack Conley, and Oscar Isaac. Here's a breakdown of the setting and story:
Suburbicon is a peaceful, idyllic suburban community with affordable homes and manicured lawns…the perfect place to raise a family, and in the summer of 1959, the Lodge family is doing just that. But the tranquil surface masks a disturbing reality, as husband and father Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) must navigate the town’s dark underbelly of betrayal,...

James DeMonaco’s The Purge (2013) failed to live up to the intriguing premise of its trailer by penning cast and audience inside an exec home for the duration of the action. With Anarchy he has exercised his right to reply to critics and flung the drama into the wider world, with limited success. This Purge Night sees a brooding antihero and a straggling band of survivors stand in the empathetic corner ready to tug our heartstrings. While braying members of society’s upper echelons, a man with a very deadly van and a masked pack of biking wolves proffer opportunities to boo, hiss and ride out roller-coaster whooshes of adrenalin. Scatter shot with thrill kills.
Expanding upon a theory posited in the first film – that The Purge is simply a tool to eliminate the poor – The Purge: Anarchy takes place at the palpitating heart of an angry city. Downtown there...

The scene also features several of the other characters in the story played by Jack Conley, Carmen Ejogo, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez, Zoe Soul, Justina Machado, and John Beasley. The movie is set to be released on July 18th.

Shock Till You Drop has landed an explosive, exclusive first-look clip from The Purge: Anarchy, opening July 18th from Universal. This is a shockingly long preview (3.5 minutes) featuring all of the key players of the film, including Frank Grillo who plays a man who uses the night of "The Purge" to exact revenge. His plan hits a bit of a hiccup when he encounters a mother and daughter in need of help; as you'll see in this clip, he makes a pretty big, dangerous decision. The man in the truck is "Big Daddy" and he's played by character actor Jack Conley (L.A. Confidential, Fast & Furious). Carmen Ejogo, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez, Zoe Soul, Justina Machado and John Beasley also star.

Sons of Anarchy Season 5, Episode 3: “Laying Pipe”
Written by Kurt Sutter
Directed by Adam Arkin
Airs Tuesdays at 10pm (Et) on FX
Guess last week truly was the calm before the storm. Right when Sutter has you thinking that he doesn‘t have it in him to send one of his leads down the final road we get hit with this… If you liked it or not, this episode is one for the books, as Opie’s death (unexpected at least to me, who ignored all Twitter and Facebook warnings posted in advance) hits right in the heart. Whether it’s beneficial for the show‘s development, which remains to be seen, it is most certainly a ballsy move on the writers’ end. Maybe that is why Sutter has shown such mercy to his Samcro members in the past, to wait it out and make this one count. Because let’s face it,...

NCIS Searches for an Enemy on the Hill
A man runs into traffic and is hit by a car as he tries to avoid a TV news crew. The crew rushes over to help the man, and we see he has a gun in a shoulder holster. DC Metro Detective Sportelli (Jack Conley) comes into NCIS headquarters with news he’s arrested the man, who is actually a wanted professional killer known as The Cooler. Furthermore, The Cooler’s next target was apparently Navy Lt. Cmdr. Geoffrey Brett (Brett Tucker), a Top Gun aviator turned advisor to the House Armed Services Committee.
Advised of the threat on his life, Brett was reluctant to accept NCIS’s protection, but Gibbs assigned Ziva as his bodyguard while the rest of the team looked into who might have hired The Cooler.
Over the years, there have been a handful of NCIS episodes like “Enemy on the Hill,...

A reporter waiting for a meeting at a construction site is found dead. McGee (Sean Murray) has to take another polygraph test. Tony (Michael Weatherly) asks him why and here comes the oft used phrase again, "Don't ask, don't tell." Need to have that included at least a few times a season. Tony being funny as per usual, comments, "You didn't make a mistake about coming out did you?" How many times has Tony mentioned that about McGee now. McGee replies, "I don't have anything to come out about." Tony calls him "McQueen" and that this could end McGee's career. Always a scaremonger, our Tony. Gibbs (Mark Harmon) on the other hand, never took a polygraph. Just a thought what happened to the polygraphs the team were meant to be subjected to in season 4 finale Angel of Death. We didn't hear anything more about that. The dead Vic was Matt Burns (Julian Acosta) a blogger,...

An unconscious woman is rushed in with respiratory failure. Lauren's boyfriend, Ethan (Bobby Campo) describes her as mumbling and complaining of her head hurting. Lauren dies and Alexx suspects she was poisoned. They need Horatio (David Caruso). Delko believes Ethan killed her and he was fooled by him having an engagement ring and wouldn't look him in the eye. There could be lots of reasons for that and doesn't mean he's a killer. Alexx has sent Lauren's blood and tissues to the lab. Walter (Omar Benson Miller) says that poisons are absorbed by touch and are hard to trace. Ethan explains their whereabouts and eating at a restaurant and he begins to cough. Animals and humans join 'G-Force'
Nicolas Cage, Steve Buscemi and Tracy Morgan will be three of the lead voices in G-Force, for Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films.
Bill Nighy and Will Arnett also have joined the ranks of the human actors in the live-action/CG film, which marks the directorial debut of Oscar-winning visual effects innovator Hoyt Yeatman.

Cage will play Speckles, a mole; Buscemi will portray Bucky, a hamster; and Morgan will voice Blaster, a guinea pig. Nighy will portray an industrialist, and Arnett will play an FBI agent.
Live-action leads also include Zach Galifianakis, Kelli Garner, Gabriel Casseus and Jack Conley.
Production is currently under way in Los Angeles. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing. Executive producing are Bruckheimer Films' Mike Stenson and Chad Oman, along with Duncan Henderson.
"It's a good story; it's unique characters, it's half animation, half live action," Bruckheimer told The Hollywood Reporter.
