The new season will premiere in winter this year on streamer CBC Gem and CBC TV in Canada. Lionsgate Television has rights outside of Canada, and The CW had the previous three seasons in the States. It was officially renewed in May.
“We’re thrilled to roll into the 90s with Mark as he finds his way in high school and are looking forward to sharing this exciting new season with audiences,” said creators,...

"No one can blame you for falling in love." Good Deed Entertainment has revealed an official US trailer for the film Carmen, an empowering feminist drama from Malta starring Natascha McElhone. This just premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival and opens in theaters in September. Carmen is perhaps veteran director and accomplished actor Valerie Buhagiar's most joyous film outing yet. Set in a sun-dappled village in Malta in the 1980s, McElhone gives her career-best performance as a 50-year-old woman finding a new start in life through romance. In a small Maltese village, Carmen has looked after her brother, the local priest, for her entire life. When the Church abandons Carmen, she is mistaken for the new priest. Carmen begins to see the world, and herself, in a new light and find loves along the way. Also starring Michaela Farrugia, Steven Love, Richard Clarkin, and Henry Zammit Cordina. This looks a tad cheesy and obvious,...

Four high school seniors feel their day-to-day lives at school are getting a little dull. So they made a pact to plan and execute a series of perfect, elaborate murders and get some thrills behind them before heading off to college. However when their latest homicidal plan hits some unexpected speed bumps, the situation turns deadly, violent and bloody.
In the same vein as Tragedy Girls, Extracurricular essentially tells that same story as The Strangers (and a multitude of other home invasion/slasher movies) but from the perspective of the masked killers rather than their victims. That these killers happen to be a small group of high-school kids only adds to the depth of this particular tale… and one that...

The best part of hockey comedy Goon is its ability to never forget itself. Jay Baruchel and Evan Goldberg didn’t write it (based on Adam Frattasio and Douglas Smith’s non-fiction book) like your usual sports film where winning or losing was the goal. They instead brought to life a soft-spoken, compassionate guy whose only talent isn’t laying guys out on the ice like his bloodthirsty fans believe. No, Doug Glatt’s (Seann William Scott) calling is as protector for his family, friends, and teammates. He joined the Halifax Highlanders to provide a spark as well as a formidable presence that would lend his more talented linemates peace of mind and confidence. Victory was never about securing a championship, it was reminding his team what hockey meant beyond the scoreboard.

Director/writer: Isaac Cravit. Cast: Annie Clark, Daniel Kash, Richard Clarkin, Steven Love and Alyssa Capriotti. Solo is a backwoods thriller, which was released late in 2013. The film primarily focuses on one character, Gillian (Annie Clark), and her overnight stay on an isolated island. Events take on a psychological element, when a stranger appears on the island. Solo is an indie feature with only a few characters. Still, there is suspense and a little mystery here as first time director Isaac Cravit delivers a compelling feature. A little more horror could have been introduced in this film, but Solo does deliver enough tension to warrant film fans' time. The film begins and ends with the protagonist, Gillian. She has hopes of becoming a camp counsellour. However, she must pass an initiation rite, which leaves her alone on an island for two nights. The situation gets a little stranger when Gillian...

To get you over Hump Day, we have on tap an exclusive clip from the upcoming terror tale Solo, which is available now via YouTube. Check it out, and look for more on this one as it comes.
Isaac Cravit writes and directs. Annie Clark, Daniel Kash, and Richard Clarkin star.
Synopsis
17-year-old Gillian takes a job as a counselor at a remote summer camp. As part of her initiation, she must spend two nights by herself on the camp's island, an intimidating collision of rock and wilderness carved out of the lake, supposedly haunted by the ghost of a camper who disappeared suspiciously decades before. When Gilllian's "solo" is interrupted by a local man responding to a distress call, what was meant to be a peaceful time alone in nature devolves into something disturbingly different.
As her paranoia mounts, a horrifying secret is uprooted and Gillian finds herself in a desperate fight to survive.
