Chafûrin was born on December 4, 1961 in Saitama, Japan as Hirotaka Shimasawa. He is an actor, known for Escaflowne (1996), Silent Möbius (1998) and Dragon Ball GT (1996). He also voiced as Shimajiro's Father in Shimajiro (1993) (TV Series) and also voiced in the Shimajiro films including Shimajirô to fufu no daibôken - sukue nanairo no hana (2013), Gekijouban Shimajirou no wao!: Shimajirou to kujira no uta (2014), Gekijouban Shimajirou no wao!: Shimajirou to ookina ki (2015), Gekijouban Shimajirou no wao!: Shimajirou to niji no oashisu (2017) ,Shimajiro and the Rainbow Oasis (2017), Shimajiro and the Rainbow Oasis (2018).

Best known as the Japanese voice of Bob Poundmax in the first Gungrave
video game and the anime series.
