- Actor
John Bowler was born in London to a Cockney father and an Anglo-Indian mother, moving with his family at a very young age to Newcastle-on-Tyne where he grew up in the Gosforth area, in fact many people assume that he is a 'Geordie' after convincingly portraying one in programmes such as Auf Wiedersehen, Pet (1983). Alongside his sister and 3 brothers, he won a scholarship from Northumberland Education Authority to attend Ackworth School - a Quaker co-ed boarding school near Wakefield in Yorkshire, where he developed his love of the Performing Arts. From 1970-73 he studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (The Royal Scottish Conservatoire) in Glasgow. As well as working consistently - playing a vast range of characters - across all media as an actor, he has also written film, radio and T.V. comedy scripts and sketches. For 9 years he wrote and performed stand up comedy with T.V. director Rick Platt. He is married to actress/director/artist Judi Lamb and they have two children.
