„Perfekt verpasst“, die erste fiktionale Serie von und mit Anke Engelke und Bastian Pastewka, gibt es Prime Video ab dem 15. August in über 240 Ländern und Territorien weltweit. Einen ersten Einblick in die achtteilige Deutsche Original-Serie gibt jetzt der offizielle Teaser. „Perfekt verpasst“ feiert am 30. Juni Weltpremiere auf dem 41. Filmfest München.

Zur Handlung: Maria (Anke Engelke) und Ralf (Bastian Pastewka) stecken fest. Im Alltag, im Job und in der Liebe. Im Prinzip wären die beiden Singles ziemlich perfekt füreinander, wäre da nicht ein kleines Problem: Obwohl sie in der gleichen Kleinstadt wohnen, sind sie sich noch nie begegnet.

Exclusive: Netflix has picked up rights in Germany, Austria and Switzerland to Swiss comedy The Neighbours From Upstairs (Die Nachbarn Von Oben) following the film’s theatrical run.

Ascot Elite Entertainment’s charge drew 72,000 admissions in German-speaking Switzerland and was one of the top-performing Swiss comedies in 2023.

The film follows couple Thomas and Anna who after 20 years of marriage are desperate for some romance. When they invite their amorous and passionate neighbours over for dinner, they get a surprisingly spicy offer which takes their night and relationship down a road they hadn’t expected.

The film’s two lead actresses Ursina Lardi and Sarah Spale are currently nominated for the Swiss Film Award, which will be unveiled in March, the same month the film becomes available on Netflix. Max Simonischek and Roeland Wiesnekker also star.

Swiss distributor and producer Ascot Elite has sold German rights to its comedy remake The Neighbours From Upstairs (Die Nachbarn Von Oben) to Wild Bunch, which will release the film from June 1, 2023.

Ascot Elite has drawn 55,000 spectators to the film in German-speaking Switzerland where it is still on release and has become the most popular local production of the year to date.

Exclusive: Euro distributor and producer Ascot Elite Entertainment has secured remake rights to successful Spanish comedy Sentimental for Switzerland and all German-speaking parts of Europe from Filmax and is producing a Swiss remake called The People Upstairs (Die Nachbarn Von Oben).

Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov’s detention by the Russian authorities has been extended by yet another two months to July 11.

This decision was made by Nikolai Tkachuk, a judge of the Moscow City Court, claiming that the charged offence poses a particular hazard to the public.

Initially, it had been expected that Sentsov’s trial would start yesterday (May 11), the first anniversary after his arrest on the Crimean peninsula in May 2014.

However, Sentsov’s case will be kept in the public eye by the Ukrainian Pavilion at the International Village in Cannes’ Marché du Film in the next two weeks.

Visitors to the Pavilion will be invited to add their names to a petition calling for the 38-year-old director’s release.

Oscar-nominated UK director Tanel Toom and Estonian documentary maker Jaak Kilmi are among 22 film-makers with film projects in the fifth edition of the When East Meets West (Wemw) co-production forum (Jan 18-20).

Estonian-born Toom, who was nominated for The Confession (his graduation film from the UK’s Nfts), will be in Trieste with his fiction feature debut, the sci-fi thriller Gateway 6, to be produced by Matt Wilkinson and Ben Pullen’s Stigma Films, while Latvian producer Antra Gaile of Mistrus Media will be pitching Kilmi’s People From Nowhere.

A total of 10 documentaries and 12 fiction feature projects from 13 countries were selected from a record 285 submissions, including 57 from Italy, 38 from the UK, 19 from Canada, 15 from Ireland, 13 from the Us, and 143 from Eastern Europe.

Since Wemw’s 2015 edition has a focus on English-speaking countries, the line-up includes:

The Swiss film critics association has named Der Goalie bin ig as the best Swiss film of 2014 and Boyhood as best international film.

The 170-strong critics association presents its awards for the fourth year.

Sabine Boss’ Der Goalie bin ig is a drama about a drug addict who is released from prison and has to find his path in life.

Boss said: “It’s an immense joy and honour to win this price! It confirms that my film speaks to the audience and critics alike.”

Linklater’s award for Boyhood was accepted by Swiss distributor Universal.

Sabine Boss’ I Am The Keeper (Der Goalie bin ig) was the big winner at this year Swiss Film Awards in Zurich, picking up four prizes for Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actor (Marcus Signer) and Best Film Score after being nominated in seven categories.

The production by C-Film Ag and Carac Film, based on the eponymous novel by Pedro Lenz about an ex-junkie’s past catching up with him as he tries to find a way back into normal life, was released by Ascot Elite Entertainment Group in cinemas in the German-speaking part of Switzerland on Feb 6 and has already posted over 68,000 admissions.

Santa Monica-based Vertical acquired all Us and Canadian rights for the adaptation of Otfried Preussler’s internationally bestselling children’s classic, which has been sold to 24 countries worldwide to date.

Vertical Entertainment, which was launched last year by industry veterans Rich Goldberg and Mitch Budin, has previously released such family films as the animated feature Freedom Force and the Russian 3D animated film The Snow Queen. produced by Timur Bekmambetov.

Berlin-based Raspberry&Cream has picked up its second Bruce Labruce title, Pierrot Lunaire, which will have its world premiere in the Berlinale’s Forum Expanded section next month.

Sales company m-appeal’s label for often sexually charged films had been launched in 2010 with Labruce’s La Zombie, shown at the film festival in Locarno. M-appeal had previously handled sales on the director’s 2008 film Otto.
