Nickelodeon is reimagining its Emmy Award-winning series The Fairly OddParents by launching the animated series Fairly Oddparents: A New Wish this spring.
The network promises the new iteration will extend the fairy universe for a new generation while honoring the original series, The Fairly OddParents, which ran from 2001-2017 and was created by Butch Hartman.
The 20-episode new series follows Hazel Wells (Ashleigh Crystal Hairston) a 10-year-old who has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her dad’s new job. On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it’s the first time she’s been without her brother, Antony, who’s just left for college, leaving her lonely and unsure of herself. All that changes when the pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal that they are no ordinary neighbors — they’re fairy godparents Cosmo (Daran Norris) and Wanda (Susanne Blakeslee).

"Fairly OddParents" may not be quite as universally recognizable as Nickelodeon's flagship series, but the very funny series about wish-granting fairy godparents that only kids can see seems to be just as prolific. Though the original animated series last aired in 2017, live-action movies and a live-action Paramount+ spinoff series have kept the world of Cosmo (Daran Norris) and Wanda (Susanne Blakeslee) alive over the years. Now, thanks to a report from What's On Netflix (via Cbr), rumors are swirling that another animated series set within the same cartoon universe as the original may be in the works at Netflix.
The original run of "Fairly OddParents" followed spiky-haired pre-teen Timmy Turner (Tara Strong) through a not-so-great adolescence that suddenly got a lot better when he discovered he had fairy godparents to help him through. Cosmo and Wanda were far from your traditional Disney fairies, though, and pretty much every wish...

The Fairly OddParents debuted March 30, 2001 on Nickelodeon. Now, 21 years later, the beloved animated series is getting a live-action and animation reboot in The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder – a Paramount+ original series debuting March 31. “Based on the original smash-hit franchise, The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder will pick up where the original ended by following Timmy Turner’s cousin, Vivian ‘Viv’ Turner, and her new stepbrother, Roy Ragland, as they navigate life in Dimmsdale with the help of their fairy godparents, Wanda and Cosmo,” the series description says. The original voices of Cosmo and Wanda, Daran Norris and Susanne Blakeslee, return to the series as everyone’s favorite married fairies. And in this TV Insider exclusive, they share what it was like to return to their (insert Mr. Crocker voice here) fairy godparent characters in the series, now streaming on Paramount+. “For me, coming back to Wanda didn’t change a thing.

Time to dust off your floaty crowny things, because the Fairly Oddparents are back. That's right, Wanda (Susanne Blakeslee) and Cosmo (Daran Norris) are ready to grant wishes for a whole new generation in Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder, a new reboot on Paramount+. And while this iteration of the animated children's classic is written for youngsters, Wanda and Cosmo—excuse us, Susanne and Daran—exclusively told E! News that the new show will also entertain fans of the original, which ran on Nickelodeon for 10 season between 2001 and 2017. "It's very exciting to have a new generation look at it," Susanne said before jumping into character. "But I'm still the same, Wanda...

Wands and wings, floaty crowny things! Cosmo and Wanda are back, and this time in a fairly odd format. Paramount+ shared the first trailer for its Fairly OddParents spinoff, The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder, on Feb. 23. The new original series combines live-action and animation, and The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder trailer promises lots of magical shenanigans in Dimmsdale. The series takes place years after Timmy Turner’s last turn in the Nickelodeon original series. An adult Timmy (clad in a pink Princeton shirt and matching pink hat) asks Cosmo and Wanda to take his 13-year-old cousin, Vivian “Viv” Turner, under their wings while she adjusts to life in Dimmsdale. Her new stepbrother, Roy Raskin, witnesses the magical moment and becomes their second fairy godchild. Viv and Roy’s families were brought together when their parents, high school sweethearts Ty Turner and Rachel Raskin, got married. The Fairly OddParents original cast...

Timmy Turner was an average kid that no one understood. Now, in the first trailer for “The Fairly Oddparents: Fairly Odder,” we get to meet some other members of his family.
The new series, set to hit Paramount+ at the end of March, focuses on Timmy’s cousin, Vivian “Viv” Turner (Audrey Grace Marshall), and her new stepbrother, Roy Raskin (Tyler Wladis), as they navigate life in Dimmsdale with the help of the wacky fairies we know and love: Cosmo and Wanda.
Timmy himself will make an appearance in order to gift Cosmo and Wanda to the kids. And yes, he’s still wearing his classic pink hat. But, in place of his pink shirt, he’s wearing a Princeton sweatshirt — which might surprise fans of the original series, considering his relationship with school.

MaryAnn’s quick take… Simply a lovely film, with some of the most striking — and haunting — animation I’ve ever seen, and full of a remarkable and palpable warmth and humanity. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
I have not read the source material
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
The animation style may be a bit of a tipoff: My Life as a Zucchini is not going to be an easy film. The haunting claymation features people with sallow faces and shadowed eyes on oversized heads, tragedy and pain made bloatedly manifest on their bodies. And these people are mostly children: orphans abandoned by life, which has turned them either bullying or neurotic or withdrawn or just plain sad. Some parents may feel that this is not a film suitable for children, but I disagree: kids’ sympathy (and that of adults,...
