Michael was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
As a youth, he attended St Michael's Choir School in Toronto.
Graduated from the prestigious National Theatre School of Canada in the Acting Program in Montreal.
Upon graduation he played Adult Simba in the musical Disney's The Lion King at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto.
A member of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival of Canada for 10 seasons playing among many others (Othello, Caliban, Edmund, MacDuff)
He was an inaugural member of the English Acting Company of the National Arts Centre in Ottawa where he played Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet and was a member of the first graduating class of the Soulpepper Academy in the historic Distillery District in Toronto.
