Hammer horror fans are in for a treat, as respective collections of five William Castle films and five Hammer horror movies are coming out on Blu-ray in August, and The Incredible Two-Headed Transplant has been set to come out on Blu-ray.

The William Castle and Hammer horror collections will respectively come out on DVD August 18th from Mill Creek. The Incredible Two-Headed Transplant, meanwhile, is slated for release later this year by Kino Lorber. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for further updates.

The original Clash of the Titans has gotten some attention thanks to last year's remake. I guess that's cool, but I don't know how capable it is of making new fans. I can see people new to it liking it for what they feel to be kitsch. Looking at it as an adult, I can also imagine its original audience seeing it as kitsch. Harryhausen's old-school approach to stop-motion looks creaky in comparison to the "go motion" developed by Phil Tippett for Empire Strikes Back, so it might have been a tough sell even then.

According to reports, Platinum Dunes, producers of horror remakes "Friday the 13th" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street" will update the 1987 feature "The Monster Squad", with Rob Cohen, producer of the original film, also on board the remake.

Written by Shane Black {"Lethal Weapon") and Nicholas Hill, "The Monster Squad" was directed by Fred Dekker ("Night of the Creeps", released by Tri-Star Pictures, featuring 'classic' movie monsters led by 'Dracula' (Duncan Regehr).

'The Monster Squad' of the title is a gang of pre-teens who idolize the 'classic' movie monsters. Club leader 'Sean' (Andre Gower) obtains the diary of vampire hunter 'Abraham Van Helsing' (Jack Gwillim), revealing the story of an amulet composed of 'concentrated good'. Chicago – The Winter Olympics coverage on NBC made it impossible for viewers to ignore the fact that there is indeed a “Clash of the Titans” remake coming out in April. This may seem redundant, since the vast majority of modern fantasy has in some way ripped off Greek mythology. Both “Harry Potter” and “Percy Jackson” include a variation on Medusa, the reptilian villain with snake hair and a stoney stare.

And with that start of production comes the final stage of casting, which includes adding some supporting characters to the already large cast of Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Sam Worthington, Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton, Jason Flemyng and Alexa Davalos. Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd and Melina Kanakaredes are heading to Mount Olympus.

The quintet has been cast in Fox 2000's fantasy-adventure adaptation "Percy Jackson" as classical Greek gods Chiron (Brosnan), Medusa (Thurman), Zeus (Bean), Poseidon (McKidd) and Athena (Kanakaredes). Aries, Hades and Persephone have not yet been cast.

The film, being directed by Chris Columbus, is shooting in Vancouver for a February release.

Columbus and Craig Titley have adapted the screenplay from Rick Riordan's best-selling children's novel "The Lightning Thief." The Greek mythology-inflected book involves Poseidon's half-human son, Percy, who's on a quest across modern America to prevent a war among the gods.
