Paul Walker enjoyed a lengthy career in Hollywood that carried him through various roles in several unique movies before his unfortunate death in 2013 at just 40 years old. Fans likely remember him best as Brian O'Conner in the "Fast and Furious" franchise, but the talented and handsome actor also appeared in critical hits such as "Pleasantville," "Joy Ride," and Clint Eastwood's "Flags of Our Fathers," and served as executive producer on the films "Vehicle 19," "Hours," and "Pawn Shop Chronicles." He even enjoyed a guest spot on National Geographic's "Expedition Great White" in 2009.
In his youth, Walker popped up in a variety of high-profile TV shows, among them "Highway to Heaven," "Charles in Charge," "Who's the Boss," and "Touched by an Angel," before making the leap to schlocky B-movie horror films such as "Tammy and the Rex," opposite Denise Richards, in which his character's brain somehow lands inside a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Pop quiz – what’s the most obscure Tom Cruise movie? If you’re thinking Lions for Lambs or maybe Far and Away, or even my beloved All the Right Moves, you’re wrong. Tom Cruise’s most obscure movie ever is, without a doubt, 1983’s Losin’ It. One of four films Cruise made in 1983, this had the misfortune of being released just a few months before Cruise’s career took off. It only made just over 1 million at the box office but would have easily made many more times that had it been held just a few more months, with Cruise becoming a household name by the end of that summer.
So why is Losin’ It so obscure? It’s a strange addition to Cruise’s filmography in that it’s a wacky sex comedy that has more in common with Porky’s than it does the classy Risky Business.

The bell just rang, school is out for summer. Maybe it’s out forever—leaving school behind as our heroes and antiheroes spend long, hot days laying about in the city or countryside, anticipating college dreams or fearing a return to the classroom. Or, more likely, not thinking of studies at all, just anticipating the next summer day and how to score more thrills. As the season winds down, here is a mix that is an ode to the teenage summer—so wonderfully captured in many films—a choice selection that evokes endless possibilities: sweat, love, passion, booze, drugs, and questions of the great unknown just around the corner. The characters of these summertime stories are either breaking hearts, heartbroken, running from hell or somewhere lost in between. Some favorite moments include the confusion, chaos and otherworldly essence of Gheorghe Zamfir’s flute from the unforgettable score for Peter Weir...

Kate Bosworth didn’t let early 2000s Hollywood crush her ahead of her big break in “Blue Crush.”
The actress reflected on her breakout role and easily what could have been a bikini-clad “Girls Gone Wild” parody of a sports surfing film.
“I was reading a lot of scripts in 2001, and the parts for women were certainly not multidimensional,” Bosworth told Vulture. “The ones that were exhibiting a lot of depth were quite competitive, and I was a ‘no one’ at the time. Being a young blonde girl, there were a lot of roles that were stereotypical bitchy, dumb, or vapid. Not getting roles wasn’t frustrating because that’s the name of the game, but the stereotypes felt disappointing.”
She added, “If you remember the early 2000s, they could be pretty cruel for young girls, so I was feeling a little dejected.”

Stephen King is such a good writer that even novels that have already been brought to the silver screen are getting re-adapted. The latest remake of a King story will be Christine. A new version of Stephen King’s “Christine” is coming to the screen and in development with Bryan Fuller set to direct the film at Sony Pictures and for Blumhouse Productions.
“Christine” was first adapted into a cult horror film by horror master John Carpenter in 1983 about a teen who buys a classic 1958 Plymouth Fury and fixes it up, only to discover that it seems to have a mind of its own , a jealous, possessive personality toward its new owner and a vindictive, murderous past.
Fuller, who is a writer on “Star Trek: Discovery,” “Pushing Daisies,” “American Gods,” “Hannibal” and more, is both writing and directing the new take on “Christine.” Jason Blum is producing for Blumhouse, and Vincenzo Natali and Steven Hoban are also producing.
Peter Kang is overseeing for Sony Pictures.
King’s “Christine” was published in 1983 with the film by “Halloween” director Carpenter coming out the same year.

Tom Cruise has been a consistently bankable and likeable A-lister for over three decades now. That doesn’t happen by accident. “Tom Cruise Movies” are films only possible with Cruise’s level of charisma, energy and youthful enthusiasm, and Most of Cruise’s movies are “Tom Cruise Movies.” And if anyone can jumpstart “The Mummy” franchise again, it’s Cruise. Here’s every film he’s starred in, ranked.
41. “Cocktail”
Cruise’s Type-a, adrenaline-fueled drive serves him very well in movies where the stakes are high. But “Cocktail” is just “Top Gun” behind a bar. The work-hard play-hard clichés at work here threatened to make Cruise the role model for handsome, affable, lame guys you swipe past on dating apps. Cruise smartly moved on from roles like this.
40. “Endless Love”
Tom Cruise has a tiny part in this Brooke Shields melodrama when he was just a squeaky-voiced teen, his first ever on-screen role.

Stephen King’s horror novel “From a Buick 8” is in the works as movie at Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment with William Brent Bell set to direct from his own script.
King published “From a Buick 8” — which derives its title from the 1965 Bob Dylan song “From a Buick 6” — in 2002 and set the story around the rural town of Statler, Pa., where state police have kept a mysterious 1954 Buick Roadmaster in the shed behind the barracks for over 20 years. After a well-liked member of the troop is killed by a drunk driver, his son begins to visit the barracks and the cops begin telling Ned about the “Buick 8,” which turns out to have a malevolent spirit.

Awash in bold colors, bright patterns and ebullient kids, director Ava DuVernay’s new take on “A Wrinkle in Time” dazzles its way across time and space even if it doesn’t quite stick the landing. A psychedelic journey for 6-year-olds of all ages, this big-screen adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic novel offers trippy delights without defying the novel’s “unfilmable” reputation. Still, DuVernay and screenwriters Jennifer Lee (“Frozen”) and John Stockwell (“Bridge to Terabithia”) give it their all, imbuing as much epic grandeur as they can into a story that seems to take place over the course of a languid afternoon. A team of commandos tries to secure a secret site housing a lie-detecting supercomputer in John Stockwell's Armed Response, but that's far from the whole picture. First-timer Matt Savelloni's, er, ambitious screenplay aims to pivot from John Carpenter-style under-siege thrills to a weird sort of supernatural-vengeance horror. But it fails on these and several other fronts, making an inauspicious choice for Wesley Snipes' first top-billed theatrical release since he got out of prison in 2013. The picture's idiocy might have been predicted from the press release announcing it as the first joint venture between geriatric sleaze-rocker Gene Simmons and the...

John Carpenter's Christine (1983) is showing May 4 - June 3 and Starman (1984) is showing May 5 - June 4, 2017 in the United Kingdom.ChristineWas it too dark? Too bleak? Too gory? Did it have the misfortune of opening when American moviegoers were flocking to E.T.? Either way, when John Carpenter's The Thing landed in the summer of 1982, with an apocalyptic cliffhanger and the most surreally grotesque, tactile, gooey monster effects you never realized could be put on film, it fizzled. IndieWire’s Springboard column profiles up-and-comers in the film industry worthy of your attention.
Don’t let newly minted multi-hyphenate Michelle Morgan’s resume fool you — she always wanted to be a writer. Although Morgan’s first official forays into the industry included small parts on shows like “CSI: Miami” and, yes, even “Saved By the Bell: The New Class” and an arc on “American Dreams,” she originally went to school for screenwriting and simply fell into acting.
And it wasn’t necessarily something that fueled her creatively, which is why Morgan eventually returned to writing, penning the scripts for John Stockwell’s “Middle of Nowhere” and Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini’s “Girl Most Likely.” In 2013, she turned to directing, with her amusing short “K.I.T,” which screened at Sundance. This time around at the festival, Morgan has combined all of her skills, and she not only...

The film follows the lives of brothers Eric and Kurt Sloane, descendants of a well-known family of martial artists. When Eric […]

A remake of the film that turned Jean Claude Van Damme into an action-movie megastar, Kickboxer: Vengeance retreads the story of the brothers Sloan – the only difference here is that the the stakes are higher, the action is more brutal (the glass-on-gloves fight is certainly a Lot more bloody than in the original film) and this time round the bad guy is former WWE man-beast turned actor Dave Bautista and the Muay Thai expert that trains Kurt Sloan to face Tong Po is Van Damme!

Blue Crush has its fans. A lot of them, I’d wager. The film performed well enough when it was released in 2002, but it became more popular when it hit home video. Around five years ago a direct-to-video sequel was made by Universal. Beyond the title and surfing, though, Blue Crush 2 has little to do with John Stockwell‘s […]

Are we headed into a weird revival of beach driven movies and TV shows? Next summer “Baywatch” hits the big screen, and now on the small screen, another somewhat dated property for years past is getting dusted off: “Blue Crush.”
For those of a certain age, the 2002 movie starring Kate Bosworth, Michelle Rodriguez, and Matthew Davis, and directed by John Stockwell (who was just coming off “Crazy/Beautiful,” and after these films, has never helmed anything that resonated as much as either of them), the movie told the tale of Anne, who trains to get back on the surfboard compete after nearly drowning.

We look back at the time when John Carpenter tackled the Stephen King story, Christine...
The Film: Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon) is the kind of glasses-wearing, socially awkward nerd that never does well in high school films, given a modicum of cool cred by his best friend and star footballer, Dennis (John Stockwell), who has to protect Arnie from the school bullies. When he sees a bust-up ‘58 Plymouth Fury though, it’s love at first sight for Arnie, who decides to buy and fix up the car, named Christine, ignoring warnings from parents and friends alike and attracting attention from a local cop (Harry Dean Stanton, always a bonus). As Christine is patched up, Arnie starts to shed his nerd status and obsesses over his car, which seems to have a mind of its own.
I remember the first time that I could drive out on my own in my car.

Jean-Claude van Damme returns in a smarter than necessary reboot that’s full of plenty of physical heft, if not thespian clout
In 1989, the oft-rented, rarely rewound Kickboxer introduced many to Jean-Claude van Damme and Muay Thai martial arts. This remake proves smarter than was strictly necessary: capable journeyman John Stockwell (Blue Crush) busts out the helicopter shots to oversee boyish Alain Moussi’s progress through Thailand to avenge his brother’s death at the extensively tatted hands of former WWE heel Dave Bautista. The performers bring more physical heft than thespian clout, but genre nostalgists should appreciate the refreshingly uncomplicated manner in which Stockwell frames their dust-ups, displaying a sure editorial feel for the landing of foot or fist on face or torso. (They’ll be doubly delighted when a fugitive Moussi and pupil-turned-master Van Damme encounter workmen carrying glass panes across a busy street.) Semi-disposable VOD fodder, then,...

This weekend John Stockwell’s Kickboxer Vengeance came out on VOD, digital and select cinemas this past Friday. While it is not a work of art it is at its core entertaining. The action scenes were thrown into a blender of course, thus I believe one cannot truly appreciate the hard work that fight choreographer Larnell Stovall put into each fight. However, the film does introduce us to rising talent, Lebanese-Canadian stunt actor Alain Moussi. Moussi has stunt doubled on many Hollywood productions. The last two X-Men films. White House Down, Suicide Squad, Warcraft to name a few. He will be expanding more into fight coordination with strike-while-the-iron-may-be-hot sequel Kickboxer Retaliation as well. For all Vengeance lacks in comprehension there are times where...

Even before Kickboxer: Vengeance hits screens this week, the film’s star, stunt performer turned leading man Alain Moussi is already hard at work filming the third entry in the series, Kickboxer: Retaliation. Vengeance, retaliation… do I see a pattern developing? You might be thinking, isn’t revenge merely a synonym for retaliation? Perhaps we can also look forward to Kickboxer: Reprisal and Kickboxer: Retribution. A sequel of sorts to Kickboxer (1989), the lazily titled new film follows Kurt (the aforementioned Moussi, last seen as Jai Courtney’s stunt double in Suicide Squad) who travels to Thailand to study Muay Thai kickboxing under the cruel tutelage of Tong Po (Dave Bautista). After an initial sparring match, we learn that Kurt’s brother Eric was killed in the ring by Tong Po, leaving our hero hellbent on revenge. Unable to defeat his brother’s killer, Kurt finds a new...

Well, if you're going to remake an 80s action movie, you could do a lot worse than Kickboxer - especially with the current popularity of Ufc and Mma. So here we have it: Kickboxer: Vengeance an update of the 1989 classic which originally starred Jcvd as Kurt Sloane. This time around, the action star returns as the master while newcomer Alain Moussi takes on the role of student.
Directed by John Stockwell (a personal favourite of mine with credits which include Crazy/Beautiful, Blue Crush, Into the Blue and Turistas), Kickboxer: Vengeance sees Sloane travel to Thailand to avenge the death of his brother at the hands of the vicious fighter Tong Po (Dave Bautista) but not before training with Master Durand (Van Damme).

If there’s one man in Hollywood that is still sticking to his guns, it is Jean-Claude Van Damme. His latest feature is John Stockwell‘s Kickboxer: Vengeance where he assumes a Myagi role to a vengeful brother’s quest to take down Dave Bautista because Big Dave sort of murdered his brother in a no-holds-barred underground fight.
The men are ripped, the (only discernible) woman is treacherous, the testosterone is almost breaking the man-o-meter, and the punches are constant. Also starring Gina Carano, Alain Moussi, Luis Da Silva Jr, see the trailer below ahead of a fall release.
After his brother is brutally killed by the fighter Tong Po (Dave Bautista), Kurt, Etop Udo-Ema Sloane (Alain Moussi) travels to Thailand and trains with the legendary Master Durand (Jean-Claude Van Damme) to avenge his brother’s death.

Kickboxer: Vengeance arrives in cinemas in September, with Jcvd on board. Here's the first trailer...
Heading to cinemas later this year is the new take on Kickboxer, that’s going by the name of Kickboxer: Vengeance. It appears to be Jean-Claude Van Damme-endorsed too, given that the muscly Brusselly one is appearing in the new film.
Alongside him in the cast? Well, he’s passing the torch to Alain Moussi, with Dave Bautista, Gina Carano, Georges St-Pierre and Cain Velasquez in the cast too. John Stockwell has directed the movie, which lands in cinemas in September.
What’s more, we’ve got the first trailer for the movie too.
And here’s the synopsis too…
Eric and Kurt Sloane are the descendants of a well-known Venice, California-based family of martial artists. Kurt has always been in older brother, Eric’s shadow, as he lacks the instincts needed to become a champion.

"No rules, no refs, and the chance to be remembered for a lifetime..." Rlj Entertainment has debuted the first official trailer for the new remake of the original 1989 Kickboxer action classic, this one retitled to Kickboxer: Vengeance. Believe it or not, they actually got Jean-Claude Van Damme to come back (as a trainer), and the rest of the cast isn't so bad either. Canadian stuntman Alain Moussi plays the new young kickboxing hot shot, and he goes to battle against Dave Bautista as a guy named Tong Po. The cast also includes Gina Carano, Georges St-Pierre, Cain Velasquez, Fabricio Werdum, Matthew Ziff and Darren Shahlavi, among others. I don't have that many good things to say about this, as it's probably better to just watch the original Kickboxer instead, but maybe some people will be entertained. Have fun.
