Exclusive: Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has acquired global rights to Maven Screen Media’s A Mouthful of Air based on Amy Koppelman’s novel of the same name.
Koppelman also wrote and directed the movie, which Deadline first reported, starring Mank Oscar nominee Amanda Seyfried, American Horror Story‘s Finn Wittrock, Amy Irving, Paul Giamatti, Jennifer Carpenter, Britt Robertson, Josh Hamilton, Michael Gaston, Darren Goldstein and Alysia Reiner.
Seyfried plays Julie Davis — warm, kind, loving to her husband and child — who writes bestselling children’s books about unlocking your fears. But she has yet to unlock the dark secret that has haunted her own life. When her second child is born, that trauma is brought to the fore, and with it, a crushing battle to survive.

The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival Closed on Saturday night with the World Premiere of the first part of Liz Garbus’ new four-part documentary series The Fourth Estate. The fly-on-the-wall doc offers an inside look at The New York Times during the first year of the Trump Presidency.
The screening was introduced by Tribeca Co-Founder Robert De Niro who berated Trump for his use of the term Fake News: “it’s a funny thing calling something ‘fake news’ just because you don’t like it. It’s still news and when it’s the truth, it’s the truth and when it exposes you as a liar, a scam artist and a criminal, that so called ‘fake news’ can lead you to doing real time. And I hope I can do that on Saturday Night Live, depose him, interrogate him, then I want to put him in handcuffs and I...

Donald Trump rejected the beliefs of alt-right movement, telling the New York Times during a meeting on Tuesday “I disavow the group.” Richard B. Spencer, the leading ideologue of the alt-right movement, delivered a speech on Saturday night in Washington D.C. that railed against Jews and said America belongs to white people. Trump was asked about the conference on Tuesday during a wide-ranging, on-the-record conversation with the Times. Journalist Julie Davis, who was in the room, tweeted that Trump condemned the remarks. Also Read: Breitbart Rips Donald Trump Over 'Broken Promise' to Prosecute Hillary Clinton Times editor...

Most of the paint factory rejects populating the interwebs are under the misguided impression that film critics only live to trash movies. I assure you, while it is far more entertaining to simply deliver John Henry like hammer blows against films of poor quality, what we really want to do is discover films that are little heard of and champion them. I long for the day that I can unearth a little indie gem and bring it sparkling into the light.
This is not that day.
I took a chance, and it came up bad. So at least I can give you my ticket's price worth in hate and scorn on a terrible, terrible film. Finding Bliss thinks it's a raunchy, grrl power, coming of age rom-com about a young film student who finds her true spirit by editing porno flicks, enabling her to make a film of her own.

Some literary critics hold that puns and double entendres are the lowest form of humor. Maybe so, because a pun is an ambiguity that is cheap way of communicating and a double entendre is an ambiguity that features an "indelicate" interpretation. Yet Shakespeare's plays are loaded with both. Even the title "Much Ado About Nothing" would be better understood in the Bard's own day because "nothing" then was slang for a woman's genitals, and in fact the word "all," then slang for a man's private parts, derived from "awl," which is an agricultural implement shaped like a penis. The porn industry these days shows off titles that more often than not are double entendres ("Debbie Does Dallas"), while "Finding Bliss" exploits director Julie Davis's pun that directs our attention both to the actual meaning (extreme pleasure) and the name of a leading character in her third movie. More salacious,...

A romantic comedy with an edge born out of desperation. A film that doesn.t hesitate to show some rude truths on the way to a happy ending Emerging filmmaker Julie Davis has come up with a funny and outrageous romantic comedy that has an edge to it. The edge is the adult video business. Also known as pornography, the secret is that a lot of young, unemployed, future film cast and crewmembers work in porn. They work in porn because, guess what, it pays. In fact, it pays pretty well if one works for the right people. Most people who do it don.t do it for long because it is disgusting. The fact that this film glosses over...

Inspired by her experiences as an editor at the Playboy Channel, Julie Davis' "Finding Bliss" is a mildly funny, stereotype-stuffed comedy about a straight-laced aspiring filmmaker who is forced to go to work for a producer of adult films. "We don't use the 'P' word," says her boss (Kristen Johnson) at Grind Productions, who has hired virginal Nyu grad Jody (Leelee Sobieski) to reluctantly provide a woman's perspective for "Finding Bliss." The film is also the latest opus from a ridiculously prolific, wildly...

Call it the Frozen Assets Rule: If the one-joke premise of a comedy is accompanied—or begs to be accompanied—by the sound of a record scratching, avert your eyes. For those unschooled in Shelley Long’s cinematic misadventures post-Cheers, Frozen Assets stars Corbin Bernsen as a corporate executive sent to run a small-town bank—a sperm bank, that is. [Screeeeeech.] Along the same lines, Julie Davis’ dismal comedy Finding Bliss stars Leelee Sobieski as an award-winning Nyu film school graduate who, after months of directing (traffic on studio lots), finally lands a job as a Hollywood film editor ...

It's tempting to still think of Leelee Sobieski as that underage ingénue from "Deep Impact," "Eyes Wide Shut," "The Glass House" and her Emmy-nominated role in the TV miniseries "Joan of Arc," but according to the fair-skinned beauty (who turns 27 this month and, as of December, is a new mother), the opposite is true: "People think that I'm older than I am because I've been working since I was 11. They think, 'Oh, she's been around forever. She's in her mid-30s.' But I'm not."
In the new indie comedy "Finding Bliss," written and directed by Julie Davis ("Amy's Orgasm"), Sobieski stars as Jody, a naïve film school grad who fights against her conservative impulses when she takes an editing gig at an adult film company, specifically to take advantage of their filmmaking equipment after hours. Surrounded by silicone-enhanced toys and talent (plus a full-frontal Jamie Kennedy), Judy is forced...

Julie Davis‘ Finding Bliss, a romantic comedy set in the realm of the adult film industry, has been acquired by Phase 4 Films — which, perhaps not coincidentally, recently bought the rights to another movie dealing with (at least some) XXX material, Brigitte Berman’s documentary Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel. Starring Leelee Sobieski, Denise Richards, Jamie Kennedy, Kristen Johnston, Caroline Aaron, and Matt Davis, Finding Bliss is scheduled to be released in spring 2010. The following synopsis is from the Phase 4 Films press release: "Finding Bliss follows aspiring filmmaker Jody Balaban (a strong performance by Sobieski), who quickly realizes the closest she’ll ever get to directing is directing traffic on the studio lot. As a programmer (my first time!) for the 2009 Gen Art Film Festival, I can tell you that finishing this slate was not easy. It required me (and a small group of others) to watch a lot of films ... and I mean a lot of films. The awesome part of this, though, is the discovery. Sure, you'll get the occasional mess -- but then sometimes you stumble across a brilliant piece of work that hasn't been seen by anyone yet, and you just know it's destined for greatness. With that said, the programming is now complete and I'm able to share with you the names of the films playing at this year's Gen Art Film Fest in New York City from April 1 to April 7.
The Sundance and Toronto hit Lymelife (we premiered the poster here) was chosen as this year's opening night film. It's a gem of a family drama starring...

The Sundance Film Festival is officially in full swing and big names flocked to Park City to promote their movies. Ben Affleck stopped on his way to DC for "Reporter," which he serves as executive producer. Jim Carrey had his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy to help support his role where Ewan McGregor is his boyfriend in I Love You Philip Morris. Ashton was there to promote his gigolo film, Spread, with his loyal wife Demi by his side. Funny ladies Amy Poehler, Parker Posey and Rachel Dratch posed for a portrait picture, which is a lot more tame than their film Spring Breakdown. Festival favorites like Michael Cera, Zooey Deschanel, and Sam Rockwell all showed off their films while Paris Hilton made sure to hit all the parties. Mariah continues to look elated in every photo with Nick but her movie "Push" is apparently pretty dramatic. Even Anna Wintour hit the...

Miley Cyrus issued a statement exclusively to People on Sunday, apologizing for a series of playfully provocative photos that circulated on the Internet last week, as well as those from a racy, as-yet unreleased Vanity Fair photo shoot in which she appears to be nude. The singer, 15, tells People: "My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed.
