Katy Perry left her role as a judge on American Idol earlier this year to focus on her musical comeback, but does she regret that decision?
That’s the question we’re wondering after a recent report from Life & Style claims the 39-year-old is “scrambling” to return to the ABC singing competition series.
The show has moved on since Katy stunned viewers with her departure. Former winner Carrie Underwood is set to replace Katy.
Katy released her seventh studio album, 143, earlier this year, and the reaction has been mixed.
The record fell out of the Billboard 200 chart after just two weeks in what can only be described as a catastrophic launch for what was supposed to be her comeback after years away from music.

Watching the third season premiere of Fox’s mystery bakeoff competition “Crime Scene Kitchen” might have elicited quite a few “Come on!” groans from viewers at home.
From missing clues under sinks and in trash cans to not reading explicit instructions closely to making dishes that completely ignored certain ingredients that were laid out plainly for them, the Season 3 contestants who made their debut in the Sept. 26 episode seemed to stumble more than the crop of competitors who appeared in Season 2.
Well, at least to those of us sitting comfortably at home, where we can play arm-chair baking detective at an expert level and yell out obvious directions to the bakers scouring the “Crime Scene Kitchen” on the Joel McHale-hosted series.

Are you ready to embrace change on American Idol?
Production on the highly-anticipated 23rd season of the long-running reality hit is officially underway.
As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Katy Perry has walked away from her judging gig to focus on her music career.
Of course, her highly-anticipated comeback album hasn’t exactly set the charts on fire, fueling speculation that she’d somehow come crawling back to the ABC series.
However, as revealed earlier this summer, former winner Carrie Underwood is joining the show as the latest judge.
Around the same time, Luke Bryan cast a dark cloud of his future on the show, revealing that Disney had not decided whether he, Lionel Richie, and host Ryan Seacrest would be back.

Katy Perry’s album 143, which is out Sept. 20, has been a long time coming, marking her first LP since 2020’s Smile. The singer officially launched her 143 era in June when she dropped the lead single “Woman’s World.” The song immediately faced pushback for its stereotypical imagery — which Perry later said was intentional — and generic pop sound. Rolling Stone later confirmed that Perry had worked with some of the producers behind Teenage Dream and Prism, including Max Martin — and, to the disappointment of many, Dr. Luke.
Perry followed “Woman’s World” with the electro-pop single “Lifetimes.

Another Season of American Idol has come and gone. Season 22 crowned winner Abi Carter Sunday night, and judge Katy Perry bid the show farewell. Perry sat at the judges’ panel for seven seasons alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

Following 15 seasons on Fox, ABC revived the singing competition series in 2018. The show began in June 2002, and it launched careers of musicians like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and more. A different trio of judges — Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul — helmed the show at the start alongside host Ryan Seacrest — who has shepherded the show through all of its changes.
ABC has not yet announced who will replace Perry as a judge and join the ranks of past and present celebrity judges. Below, find a list of all the judges in American Idol history.

The Greatest Night in Pop director Bao Nguyen has been tapped to helm Jimi, a feature documentary about the origin story for the legendary rock star Jimi Hendrix.
Authorized for the first time by the Jimi Hendrix estate, the film is produced by Network Entertainment, financier Double Agent and Experience Hendrix.
“Telling the story of Jimi Hendrix during his pivotal years in London is both a profound honor and a unique responsibility. London has always been a city that inspires me. Having lived there, I felt a deep connection to its creative energy, much like Jimi did when his creativity reached extraordinary heights,” Nguyen said in a statement on Friday.

Michael Joseph Jackson was born August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana. The son of Joe and Katherine Jackson made his public singing debut as part of the Jackson 5 in 1964, joining his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon. By 1968 the group was signed to Motown and achieved worldwide success with Michael as the lead singer.
In 1971 Michael began his solo career with Motown and achieved instant success with hits like “Got to Be There,” “Rockin’ Robin” and “Ben.” By 1973, the success was dwindling and Michael’s songs weren’t charting like they used to. After taking some time to grow into a man (and an artist), Michael was signed to Epic Records and released the “Off the Wall” album in 1979. With five singles including the chart-toppers “Don’t Stop Til’ You Get Enough” and “Rock With You,” Michael had catapulted himself into a certified multi-platinum superstar.
From that point on, everything Michael...
