If you're a fan of the long-running series "How I Met Your Mother," you know that pop star Britney Spears memorably pops up in the third season of the beloved CBS sitcom ... so how did that happen, and how did Spears' guest role basically save the show?
During a Reddit Ama (ask me anything) in 2013, Carter Bays, who created "How I Met Your Mother" alongside Craig Thomas, was asked if any of the show's guest stars had ever specifically asked to join the series. Apparently, Spears did just that. "We got a call a few weeks after the writers' strike [in 2007] ended saying that Britney Spears wanted to be on our show," Bays responded. "And she specifically wanted to be in the episode 'Ten Sessions,' which sent a chill down our spines, because that's the one where we meet Stella [Zinman, a love interest for Josh Radnor's Ted Mosby]."

Tarsem’s The Fall is now showing exclusively on Mubi.A version of the following interview was originally published in Pardo, the Locarno Film Festival’s official daily magazine. The conversation has been expanded and edited for republication on Notebook. The Fall.“If Andrei Tarkovsky made The Wizard of Oz”—that’s how David Fincher summed up his friend Tarsem’s globe-spanning, decades-in-the-making magnum opus, The Fall (2006). This shapeshifting fable about the art and power of storytelling is maybe more Alejandro Jodorowsky than Tarkovsky, but, most importantly, it’s all Tarsem.Tarsem: the mononym is of a piece with his bold, brazen style. Like his film-school peers Michael Bay and Zack Snyder, the Punjab-born Tarsem is a bona fide vulgar auteur. He was still a student when he made his first hit music video, for R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” (1991). A young Tarsem Singh Dhandwar had arrived in...

“I thought of it,” says Kelsey Grammer. At the top of THR’s Comedy Actor Emmy Roundtable, he’d been asked to recall the funniest feedback he’s ever received. It took him half an hour, but the answer found him: “I was in my 40s, and somebody said, ‘You are the worst boyfriend I’ve ever had!’ ” The Frasier star, now pretending to cry, is met with a burst of laughter. What started with a little trepidation — “This is my first roundtable,” confessed Palm Royale’s Ricky Martin, who was joined at The Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica by John Goodman (The Conners and The Righteous Gemstones), Grammer, Theo James (The Gentlemen), Anthony Mackie (Twisted Metal) and Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) — soon shifted to dueling war stories of drunken fans and lessons learned from a combined 180 years in entertainment.

“For me, that song, when I listened to it, it was so inspiring and it was so cool and it was so good,” Enrique Iglesias told will.i.am about the Black Eyed Peas’ 2003 debut single, “Where Is the Love?”
A guest on “will.i.am Presents the Fyi Show” recorded live at the SiriusXM Miami Studios, Enrique said he still gets goosebumps thinking about that song and how he knew it was the “tipping point” for the group’s career similar to Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance.”
“I remember being at Interscope [Records] and begging to work with you in the studio,” Enrique added.
Enrique also talked about how he spent over a year writing his 2001 hit song “Hero,” but the label wanted a more uptempo lead single for the album — an experience will.i.am could relate to.
“I’ve been scarred, as far as like, you think, ‘This is it.

Enrique Iglesias is revisiting his 2022 single “Espacio en tu Corazón,” but this time releasing it in English as a duet with Miranda Lambert.
On Thursday, the Spanish star welcomed the singer to his pop world with “Space in My Heart,” which hears the two musicians sing to a love-to-be.
“You don’t love me yet, but I know you will,” they harmonize in the chorus.
The track is an English-language reimagining of Iglesias’ ballad from two years ago. The Spanish version hears Iglesias sings to a love that got away.

Maria Becerra is ready for a poolside party. On Wednesday night, the Argentine singer released her single “Piscina” featuring producer Ovy on the Drums and Puerto Rican reggaetonero Chencho Corleone.
The video, directed by Julián Levy, opens with Becerra lounging in the sun as she sings about a meeting someone who makes her day after crossing paths. “This will get better when our lips touch,” she sings in Spanish. Corleone then joins for his own fiery verse.
