Shonda Rhimes will join Debbie Allen alongside other castmembers from Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice in a Get Out the Vote trivia event Sunday, presented in partnership with MoveOn political advocacy group.

“Grey’s Anatomy” alum Sarah Drew recently opened up on the “Call It What It Is” podcast about her departure from ABC’s long-running medical drama series in 2018. Drew, who played Dr. April Kepner for nine seasons beginning in 2009, was let go from the show after its 14th season along with Jessica Capshaw, who portrayed Dr. Arizona Robbins.

“We were unceremoniously let go in a way that felt mean and unjust, and, because of that, the outpouring of love was so enormous it was like you were sitting there watching people [eulogize you],” Drew said on an episode of the “Call It What It Is” podcast, co-hosted by her former “Grey’s Anatomy” co-stars Capshaw and Camilla Luddington.

After news broke in 2018 about her “Grey’s Anatomy” exit, Drew posted a statement on X, telling fans, “I know you’re sad. I’m sad too. I haven’t really had the time to process this information.

“Grey’s Anatomy” star Sarah Drew said her firing from the long-running ABC series at the end of its 14th season was “unjust” but that returning to the show in seasons 17 and 18 was “freeing.” She told former co stars Jessica Capshaw and Camilla Luddington on the “Call It What It Is” podcast Sunday, “I don’t need anything from anybody on that set anymore.”

“They’re not responsible for my livelihood anymore. They’re not responsible for my success or my joy,” Drew added. “So it feels very, very freeing to pop back in.”

Drew is the first “main” cast member who has visited the podcast, something Luddington said fans have been “begging” for.

Drew played Dr. April Kepner and exited the ABC drama series after Season 14 when her option was not picked up alongside Jessica Capshaw.

During an appearance on the Call It What It Is podcast, co-hosted by Drew’s former co-stars Capshaw and Camilla Luddington, Drew explained how she felt about leaving the show.

Thankfully, she wasn’t killed off. Instead, Arizona decided to move to New York for the sake of her daughter, who needs both of her parents. She teams up with Dr. Nicole Herman (Geena Davis) to start the Robbins/Herman Center for Women’s Health, where she will perform fetal surgery, and launch her maternal mortality prevention program.

Grey’s Anatomy has been renewed for its record-breaking 21st season. Although this may sound like good news, fans of the medical drama megahit are not happy. The fans feel as if the show has run its course and it is time for it to end. The stars of Grey’s Anatomy may feel the same way and it has been suggested the show start preparing for members of the cast to leave.

Fans of Grey’s Anatomy are over it. They no longer want the ABC medical drama, created by Shonda Wilson, to continue. Their reasons vary from fan to fan, but the consensus appears most of them will be willing to say to say goodbye to the show.

You think you know… but you have no idea. That might be the memorable tagline of MTV’s 2000s-era docuseries “Diary,” but it applies to Apple TV+’s newest program, too.

The seven-episode ”Manhunt” tells the incredible story of the search for John Wilkes Booth (portrayed by Irish actor Anthony Boyle) in the aftermath of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln (Hamish Linklater). The limited series, of which the first two episodes are now streaming, is adapted from James L. Swanson’s book “Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer,” and while it’s a historical drama, it’s anything but dry. Described by Apple as a conspiracy thriller about one of America’s best known but least understood crimes, the show also has a perfectly deployed sense of humor, making it more than meets the eye.

In her Season 20 preview for Deadline, new Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Meg Marinis called it “back to basics,” and the season premiere, which she wrote, offered just that. In a return to Grey’s early years, the episode ended with Bailey retaking charge of the surgical interns.

The opener started with the interns facing the music after getting themselves in trouble with questionable medical decisions in the Season 19 finale and Nick posing a question to them, “Which one of you am I firing?”

Banned from any doctor duties, the group find themselves in the middle of the action anyway. Simone and Lucas end up in the back of an ambulance trying to stabilize a patient with Bailey and Meredith’s directions while their parked vehicle is being hit by a wayward self-driving car every couple of minutes. (It is unclear why the ambulance was not moved away from the crashing car.

“Grey’s Anatomy” hit the reset button in the aftermath of its traumatic Season 19 finale, including the exit of one of their own. By the end of the Season 20 premiere, Dr. Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) announced he’d be leaving Grey Sloan Memorial to reunite with Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) at her new home in Boston.

His last move as residency director was passing the torch to the now Catherine Fox award-winning Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), effectively bringing the series back to basics with her taking charge of teaching the hospital’s latest class of interns.

“I feel like if anyone can bring these interns back from what just happened, it’s the person who helped create doctors like Meredith Grey and Cristina Yang and Alex Karev,” showrunner Meg Marinis told TheWrap. “Bailey doesn’t always get the credit that she deserves.

Fans are dying to know if Teddy Altman is going to die on Season 20 of Grey’s Anatomy. It is known that her contract was renewed, however, that does not mean she will be around the entire season. In the trailer, Teddy is seen collapsing to the floor while performing surgery. This is the most viewers got to see in her storyline this season. However, a showrunner recently let fans know there will be a lot of changes this time around.

Grey’s Anatomy fans will see the return of several big characters this spring.

One of the people returning to the Grey’s Anatomy cast is the actress who played Arizona. But we aren’t going to see Callie, it seems.

In the run-up to the new season of Grey’s Anatomy, it was revealed that Jessica Capshaw is returning to play Dr. Arizona Robbins again.

Arizona was a fan-favorite character, but she left Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Season 14 to move to New York.

The move was so her daughter Sophia could be closer to her other mom – Dr. Callie Torres.

Actress Sara Ramirez played Callie for years. She left the show at the end of Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 when Callie developed a relationship with Penny Blake (played by Samantha Sloyan) and moved to New York.

The wait is almost over. Nine months after the Season 19 finale of Grey’s Anatomy aired on ABC, Season 20 of the venerable medical drama created by Shonda Rhimes premieres on the network this Thursday, March 14. Grey’s Anatomy fans everywhere are getting their wish:

Jessica Capshaw is returning as Arizona Robbins during Season 20 of the veteran medical drama.

The news came out of nowhere earlier this month, almost six years after the actress was written out of the show alongside Sarah Drew.

Neither actress had approached showrunners to depart, with the reason for their exits being put down to creative reasons.

And now, all these years later, Capshaw is scrubbing back in as Arizona, and we have the first photo to prove it.

Capshaw took to Instagram to show her back in scrubs and in character as Arizona, alongside some exciting information.

When will Jessica Capshaw’s first episode back air?

Capshaw captioned the photo with a date, which happens to be a Thursday, so it has to be her big comeback.

The highly-anticipated hour is set to air Thursday, April 4 at 9/8c.
