In the modern landscape of blockbusters, it’s not uncommon for actors to gain or lose weight to fit their characters, especially in the realm of Cbms. But back in the ’90s, director Penny Marshall, who collaborated with Tom Hanks on two occasions, urged the actor to gain weight for a contrasting reason.

Blink Twice (2024), the directorial debut of Zoë Kravitz, takes us to a disturbing and satisfying ending after introducing us to the vacation of our dreams. The psychological thriller takes inspiration from a lot of classic movies but also presents a pretty fresh take on the powers that abusers are often given in the modern world despite being called out for their deeds. Kravitz, who has co-written the film with E.T. Feigenbaum, presents darkly comical social commentary in the guise of a vacation gone wrong thriller. It features a creepy good turn from Channing Tatum and a screenplay that keeps you on the edge of your seat till the very end.
In the following article, we will take a detailed look at all the twists and turns that you will see in Blink Twice, including a discussion of its wild ending and what it means. Please be aware that this will...

There was a time when TV guest stars were pure magic, popping up like hidden gems in your favorite shows.
Long before social media spoiled every surprise, guest appearances felt like little events that brought something extra to our screens.
You’d be watching a familiar show, and out of nowhere, a face you knew and loved would walk on, adding an unexpected thrill to the episode.
Mark Harmon on The Love Boat (ABC/Screenshot)
These weren’t ratings gimmicks or social media stunts; they were genuine surprises that made TV feel alive and unpredictable.
For me, The Love Boat and Fantasy Island were cozy weekend rituals, especially when I watched with my grandma.
It wasn’t about knowing every guest star — it was about the fun of seeing who would pop up next, making each episode feel like a surprise package.

Nikyatu Jusu, the visionary behind the psychological horror film Nanny, is set to take the helm in a groundbreaking new adaptation of David Cronenberg's 1986 sci-fi horror classic The Fly for 20th Century Studios and Chernin Entertainment. The talented director has reportedly begun development on this new horror project, which is also being called The Fly.
The upcoming horror movie is not a remake. Instead, it's a new take on the 1986 sci-fi horror film and is set in the same universe. Jusu wrote the script and will direct the movie as well. In addition, Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are signed on to produce.
Unfortunately, plot details about this movie are being kept secret as of right now. However, we have high hopes that it'll have an interesting plot since Jusu wrote the script. The announcement of this film comes at the perfect time when body horror...

Back in 1986, David Cronenberg directed a remake of Kurt Neumann’s 1958 sci-fi horror classic The Fly (which was based on George Langelaan’s short story) – and the result is considered to be one of the best remakes of all time. 20th Century Fox, now the Disney subsidiary 20th Century Studios, has been wanting to replicate that success with another remake for a couple of decades now… but the project has never managed to escape from development hell. Cronenberg wanted to come back and make another Fly movie, but it fell apart over budgetary issues. Screenwriter Todd Lincoln wrote a remake of The Fly that he described as a “dark, twisted, grounded re- imagining… Part Val-Lewton, part J.G. Ballard, part Neal Stephenson with some Horror Manga touches.” The studio wasn’t into it. J.D. Dillard was attached to direct a new version of The Fly for years, then stepped away from it.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.
A new movie set in the same universe as David Cronenberg's '80s body-horror masterwork, The Fly, is in development.
Deadline reports that Nikyatu Jusu is set to write and direct the project for 20th Century Studios and Chernin Entertainment. The movie is not expected to be a reboot or a direct sequel, and there's no word on casting.
Jusu garnered acclaim for her work on 2022's Nanny, and also has a sequel to George A. Romero's classic Night of the Living Dead in the works with The Walking Dead‘s Latoya Morgan penning the script.
“The original version of Night of the Living Dead is still so resonant to this day,” said Jusu when the project was first announced. “Every era has the zombie that it needs and right now, zombies reflect the ways that humans treat each other and show us who is truly the monster.

In addition to a new take on Romero’s Night of the Living Dead that’s coming soon from MGM, Nikyatu Jusu (Nanny) is also venturing into the world of David Cronenberg’s The Fly.
Deadline reports this afternoon that Nikyatu Jusu’s upcoming installment in the body horror franchise is “based on David Cronenberg’s masterwork,” being positioned not as a remake of Cronenberg’s memorable upgrade of the ’50s movie but rather a new movie that’s set in the universe of the 1986 body horror masterpiece that starred Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis.
Deadline details, “While the film’s plot is under wraps, sources stressed that it’s set in the universe of Cronenberg’s film, rather than a straightforward remake.”
Jusu is writing and directing the film for 20th Century Studios and Chernin Entertainment. Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are producing the new movie.

Brian Bonsall started acting on Family Ties when he was 5 years old, playing the role of Andy Keaton through the show's final three seasons.
He said of his time on Family Ties: "Good memories for sure. They were a second family to me, growing up doing that ... Michael J. Fox used to come pick me up in his Ferrari, taught me to dive into a pool. It was so comfortable hanging out."
The break helped him appear in more 1990s shows, including Father Hood and Blank Check, until he retired in 1995. He later shifted his career and pursued his passion for music with several bands.
Bonsall found himself in trouble when he was arrested in Boulder, Colo.

Hollywood’s most notable bombs are — sadly — just as well-known as its biggest hits, a factor that a new book joyously celebrates.
From British film critic Tim Robey, “Box Office Poison” digs up the dirt on some of cinema’s wildest misfires, from grand follies to misunderstood masterpieces, disastrous sequels to catastrophic literary adaptations, going behind the scenes to examine how they ended careers, bankrupted studios and changed film history.
Among the features in Robey’s crosshairs are David Lynch’s “Dune,” plus “Speed 2: Cruise Control,” “Gigli,” “Catwoman,” “Pan” and — of course — “Cats.”
In this exclusive extract from the book, being released by Hanover Square Press in the U.S. on Nov. 5, it’s the turn of the swashbuckling catastrophe that was Renny Harlin and Geana Davis’ “Cutthroat Island.” Costing upwards of $115 million to make, the watery flop sank almost without a trace in 1995, earning just $18.5 million globally and...

The world has once again been taken over by the wackiness of Betelgeuse. The larger-than-life bio-exorcist made his return to theaters last month for a sequel nearly four decades in the making, and it certainly exceeded expectations.
Michael Keaton was as delightful as ever as the undead demon, turning the world of the Deetz family upside down once more in another gothic adventure that only he could create. And audiences loved it, as the Tim Burton sequel grossed over $430 million at the box office, quadrupling the takings of the original 1988 movie. Don't you just love it when a cult classic becomes a global phenomenon?
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a moment in time, and one that was worth waiting for. But while it reunited Keaton and Burton, along with Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara, not all of the original movie's stars returned. That didn't, however, stop two of them from crossing paths on TV screens this month.

An aging Commander in Chief faces health struggles, and as a result, his younger, female vice-president ascends. That is, of course, the story of the 2024 presidential election in which Vice President Kamala Harris became the Democratic nominee, replacing an ailing Joe Biden. But it also happens to be a TV show plot – nearly 20 years ago.
The series, Commander in Chief, which premiered in 2005, starred Geena Davis as the first female vice president in American history, selected to help an older, white male political candidate appeal to other constituencies. Sound familiar? There are notable differences between the political fiction of the show and the political realities of the 2024 race, however. For one, fictional President Teddy Bridges is a Republican, while Mackenzie, portrayed by Davis, is an Independent. Oh, and in the show (spoiler alert!) the president dies, leading to the first female Commander in Chief.

Michael Keaton is hosting Saturday Night Live on October 19. The Oscar nominee has been getting lots of attention for reprising his iconic title character in the sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and is a choice selection to host after three previous appearances.
Keaton has the comedic chops to be an SNL cast member, but he never actually auditioned. There was, however, a cast member from the original Beetlejuice film who did audition for the show, and was promptly turned down.

Several of the film's more overtly comedic cast members come to mind. Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones seem like viable candidates. Alec Baldwin is one of the most beloved hosts in SNL history, so he too would make sense. The only Beetlejuice star who auditioned for Saturday Night Live, however, was Geena Davis.

Max left Beetlejuice Beetlejuice off of its October 2024 schedule, inciting questions about when the sequel will get its streaming release.
After the original Beetlejuice's adventures with Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, Michael Keaton brought back his terrifying demon for 2024's Beetlejuice 2. Kicking off with a $145 million opening weekend at the box office, the sequel made waves in September and sits at more than $400 million globally as of writing.
The second Beetlejuice film featured plenty of twists and turns, giving Keaton another chance at glory in the role next to Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder. The big question moving forward is when Beetlejuice 2 will be more widely available out of theaters.

When it comes to accolades and acting, few actors can compete with the likes of Samuel L. Jackson. He has made a name for himself as one of the most iconic figures in the industry, having a distinctive presence on screen, as well as in real life. Despite this, the actor has yet to receive an Academy Award for one of his performances. For years, he has been a part of several Oscar-winning and nominated films.

Three-time Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver has proven herself a capable leading lady in a variety of genres, including science fiction, fantasy, comedy, horror and drama. Let’s take a look back at 16 of her greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Weaver made her film debut with a walk-on role as Woody Allen‘s girlfriend in “Annie Hall” (1977). Her breakthrough came just two years later for Ridley Scott‘s landmark sci-fi thriller “Alien” (1979). As Ripley, the lone survivor aboard a spacecraft besieged by a snarling, ferocious extra-terrestrial, Weaver broke down barriers for female action stars and helped launch a franchise that led to three sequels: James Cameron‘s “Aliens” (1986), David Fincher‘s “Alien 3” (1992), and Jean-Pierre Jeunet‘s “Alien: Resurrection” (1997).
“Aliens” brought Weaver her first Oscar nomination as Best Actress, a rarity for the genre. Not to be typecast, she found further success in a variety of roles that didn’t require donning a space helmet.

“Blink Twice” is a movie directed by Zöe Kravitz starring Naomi Ackie, Channing Tatum, Adria Arjona, Christian Slater and Geena Davis.
“Blink Twice” emerges as one of those rare cinematic gems that deftly blends multiple genres to ultimately immerse us in the thrilling labyrinth of a genre we can’t help but adore—the thriller. This film cunningly toys with our expectations, leading us down paths of romance, suspense, and even horror, only to reveal itself as a sharp satire with compelling social undertones. The performances are solid, with Channing Tatum delivering an unexpectedly profound portrayal, diverging from his typical roles to embrace the gravitas required for this more serious thriller.
Plot
The narrative revolves around two young women who receive an invitation to a seemingly idyllic paradise of luxury and excess, extended by a wealthy magnate. However, nothing is as it appears, and it isn’t long before they...

French director Coralie Fargeat's latest film "The Substance" is proving to be a bloody, brilliant, bonkers bit of body horror, which means we here at /Film have body horror on the brain. While all horror movies find a way to wriggle their way underneath the skin, body horror movies focus on what that would literally look like while tapping into our inherent, primal fears about our own bodies. As invincible as we might feel, our mortality is intrinsically linked to the vulnerability of our physical forms — which are vehicles for our identities and how we relate to the world around us. There's something so visceral about watching a body horror movie, with the often-times practical special effects of physical transformations presented with grotesque, graphic visuals. While we should hope that we'll never have to worry about our flesh mutating into something otherworldly and disgusting, body horror is rooted in...

Tim Burton's new film "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" has made over $153 million to date, which is surprising for a 34-years-after-the-fact sequel to an eerie, unusual comedy about unhappy rural ghosts (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) and the randy demon (Michael Keaton) they hire as a professional haunter. Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara return from the original film, now 34 years older and at new places in their lives. It seems that Betelgeuse still has randy, wedding-forward machinations at hand.
It's unusual that "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" finally got made, seeing as how several "Beetlejuice" projects had deflated in the past. Back in 1988, when "Beetlejuice" became a hit, two "Beetlejuice" sequels were immediately commissioned, and Hollywood was abuzz with where a follow-up might go. One of the original ideas was to be called "Beetlejuice in Love," written by Warren Skaaren, one of the first film's most active script doctors. That never-made film was to...

Tim Burton’s classic movie Beetlejuice has a lovely ending. The sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, undoes that ending. And nobody seems to be angry! Here’s a look at all this supernatural nuttiness and the reactions it has inspired.
How ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ treated some characters from the 1st movie
The original Beetlejuice was one of the most original and memorable horror comedies of the 1980s. Considering how many beloved horror comedies came out during the 1980s, including An American Werewolf in London, Evil Dead II, and The Return of the Living Dead, that’s a huge compliment.
The film involves a ghost couple, Adam and Barbara Maitland, who are upset that a new family has moved into their house. Eventually, they make friends with the new family’s daughter, Lydia Deetz. The film ends with Lydia having fun with the Maitlands. In the sequel, the Maitlands decided to leave their old...

This article contains mild spoilers for "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice."
Tim Burton's 1988 film "Beetlejuice" followed the post-death adventures of Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) after they died in a driving accident. By the movie's lore, the afterlife is a soul-deadening bureaucracy and ghosts have to wait in years-long, Dmv-like lines just to talk to their personal social workers. The Maitlands are unexpectedly assigned a haunting job that, according to some oblique contract, will require them to stay inside their country home for the next 125 years. This only becomes an issue when the house is sold and a family of caustic, stressed-out yuppies move in.
Luckily, the Maitlands bond with the yuppies' teenage daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder), as she is a gloomy Goth able to see ghosts. By the end of the film, the Maitlands and the yuppies, the Deetzes, learn to live in the same house.

After spending August discussing Paul Morrissey’s Udo Kier-starring Blood for Dracula (listen), Julia Ducournau’s Raw follow-up Titane (listen), and Stephen Herek’s comfort classic Critters (listen), we wrapped up the month with a look at Tim Burton‘s 1988 classic, Beetlejuice!
In the film, Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis) are perfectly content married nerds who enjoy staying at home and working on their house. When they die unceremoniously, they’re thrust into an afterlife with rules they don’t understand and horrible humans like Delia (Catherine O’Hara) and Charles Deetz (Jeffrey Jones) who take over their house.
When a bio-exorcist named Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) offers his services to scare the living out of the house, Barbara and Adam take him up on his offer. Unfortunately, they quickly find the rambunctious spirit is completely out of control. With Betelgeuse determined to marry the Deetz’s daughter,...

Beetlejuice is the worst part of Beetlejuice — at least, that’s what Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert thought back when the 1988 original was released.
“Beetlejuice is the story of a young couple who has fixed up a nice country home, but they die in a car accident. When they return home, they discover they’re ghosts. Then the home is sold to an obnoxious couple from New York City, their daughter and their lousy decorator and the ghosts try to scare them all away, but they can’t be seen. What to do? How to get the new people to leave? As in Ghostbusters, they must call on outside help. In this case a wacky alien character from another world named Beetlejuice, played by Michael Keaton.”
This is how Siskel described the film, but the only part he seemed to have any affection for was the part about the young couple and their house.
