Outlining the conflict between developmental progress and environmentalism, the final message of how to manage the Earth in the film is "We just have to decide what we want to do". In spite of the film's date, MAN BELONGS TO THE EARTH is still one of the most balanced, currently relevant, and thus best films about the environment ever made.
