An amiable couple (Lupino Lane) (Alberta Vaughn) buy a trailer and start out on a camping vacation, only to be joined at the last minute by the wife's family. The husband remains friendly, even though all the work and few of the comforts are left to him. After many comic situations the husband rescues his wife from a western-style attack by a gang of bandits and receives a reward for their capture.

Young playboy Robert Pitt makes a bet with friends at a restaurant that he will obtain within 24 hours a photograph of a girl across the room, whom he has never met, autographed fondly to him. His unsuccessful attempts to steal the photograph from her and win the bet make up the rest of the plot. Finally, he succeeds in getting the photograph and winning the girl, but he gets involved in an attempted jewel theft, which he prevents but for which he is blamed.

Wealthy Bruce MacAllister is goaded by his fiancée, Helen Sumner, into proving that he is a man of action rather than a pampered youth. After telling his estate administrator, Eugene Preston, that he is going east for a meeting, Bruce dons a disguise and infiltrates the San Francisco, CA, underworld. Bruce is mistaken for master criminal "The Chicago Kid" and finds himself leading the gang in a robbery of his own fortune in diamonds. When he discovers Eugene's intention to steal the jewels for himself, the loot changes hands many times. Helen summons the police, the criminals are arrested, and Bruce wins her respect.

The owner of a resort hotel promotes Tom Gwynne, a college boy working as a waiter, to manager. As a result of his mismanagement the hotel loses several thousand dollars. Tom inherits a million and buys the hotel to continue his experimental management, which is to give the employees time and opportunity for self-expression--to do what they like best to do. With the grounds full of acrobats, musicians, and dancers, the hotel goes bankrupt. The old manager returns, buys the hotel, but retains Tom--now that he has learned his lesson--as manager.

After being snubbed by the townspeople of Newboro, Martha Mason leaves town to make a name for herself. She returns seven years later as a famous celebrity and decides to donate a large sum to one of the town's civic organizations. Her gift is thwarted by Ben Colwell, who has political ambitions. Colwell has plans to marry Anne Paisley, daughter of the richest man in town. But when Colwell learns that Martha is worth $30 million, he turns his affections to her. She encourages him only to show him up in front of the whole town. Colwell's political ambitions are shattered, and a satisfied Martha leaves town.

In a fifteenth-century kingdom, Duke Roberto usurps the throne by poisoning King Lorenzo and abandoning the sole heir, Prince Gigi, in the wilderness. A troupe of Gypsy acrobats discover the infant prince, and their leader, Andrea, adopts him. Gigi becomes the troupe's star performer, but during a visit to the kingdom, he attempts to escape the abusive acrobats. The prince is recognized by the court physician and returned to the queen mother. Duke Roberto is punished for his crimes and the Gypsies are banished from the court.

Joyce Addison, wife of an American attache in Madrid, looks to her painting as sole entertainment, as her husband neglects her for business. One night late, while driving, she meets and is robbed by a bandit who proves sufficiently chivalrous to see her home. She recognized in him a good subject for a painting, so persuades him to pose. This leads to a dangerous friendship and a trip to a notorious cafe where she is seen by an old friend. She sees the wisdom of giving up her bandit and, much to his unhappiness, tells him it is all impossible. Her husband overhears and determines to reform and be sweetheart as well as husband. Bing Howard a former stockbroker, is called the "Night Wind" because he is a fugitive from justice, persistently being trailed by Clifford Rushton, a private detective who has framed Howard on a bond robbery. Rushton's failure to catch Howard forces the chief to turn the case over to Detective Katherine Maxwell, alias "Lady Kate," whose brother was sent to prison for bond robbery on the same evidence Rushton has brought against Howard. Lady Kate provides a temporary hideout for Howard, then proves that Rushton is guilty of both crimes.

Alice (Florence Vidor) is not satisfied with her family's financial situation and tries to convince others that she comes from a wealthy family. In the end she discovers that she is only fooling herself and decides to go to work to help her father's failing business.

13-year old Buddy (Buddy Messinger) woos his 12-year old girlfriend (Sadie Campbell) in this juvenile comedy vehicle for Messinger. Buddy uses his carriage led by Maudie (Maude, the Mule) to pick up the girl for a lunch date. Jealous of Buddy's attention to his girlfriend, Maudie decides to lie down instead of pull the carriage. When it's obvious that the animal won't behave, Maudie ends up inside of the girlfriend's house where her brother (Fred Spencer) unsuccessfully tries to get Maudie out of the dining room. Horrified guests look on as the animal wreaks havoc. The next act has Buddy at a bakery/restaurant owned by his father (Jack Henderson). Physical comedy scenes in the kitchen and Buddy serving as a busboy result in misadventures, including fun with pies. The film's final sequence finds Buddy having success as he uses a giant balloon to finally get some quality time with his girlfriend as they sail off to parts unknown.

Joel Shore is made captain of the whaling schooner formerly headed by his courageous and admired brother, Mark, who was lost at sea. Accompanied by his bride, who suspects Joel to have a cowardly heart, they set sail for a whale hunt.

A French mother, who, rather than have a stigma on the record of her hero sons, who have given their lives, takes the life of the third in preference to surrendering him to his comrades as a deserter.

John Craig, while rummaging through an old trunk, is reminded of his first sweetheart, Mary Ellen Anderson. A flashback shows their childhood together, their association while working on a local newspaper, and her assistance in preventing swindler Stuffy Shade from framing John as the perpetrator of a fraudulent oil venture. John ultimately discovers oil on the land in question and becomes the town hero. His dream ends when his wife, Mary Ellen, enters the attic with their two children.

Danny O'Rourke, whose policeman father died a hero in the fulfillment of his duty, is training to become a member of the force. He is in love with Maggie Muldoon, who lives across the court. Miriam Welton, a girl of wealth, opens up a neighborhood clubhouse for the purpose of giving happiness to the poor. Her efforts are very poorly received, but she inveigles Danny to come to the club, and sends a beautiful hat to his sister as a gift. The hat gives Shannon the masculine attention which she craves and leads her to steal in order to be attractive. Danny fails to pass his examination, and is confronted with a demand for one thousand dollars to make good his sister's thefts. He takes part in a prize fight in order to get the money, but is badly beaten. On reaching home, however, he learns that there was an error in the marking of his paper, so he is eligible to be a policeman. Though bruised he is happy, and he finally wins Maggie, the girl of his heart.

Coddled by his maiden aunts and apparently unable to make decisions, Oliver Wendell Blaine signs up for a mail-order course in "Success." Oliver follows the instructions step by step, builds his self-confidence, and proves himself a hero when a log jam threatens the town. He is made river boss and marries Phyllis Thorpe, daughter of the owner of the lumber-mill.
