Sad and gory, this is the first feature film from Robert Eggers and follows a family who was banned from a village and slowly goes insane with the threat of a witch.

A tad lackluster but still quite good, this anthology follows three different stories involving drugging, voodoo, and a killer doll.

With the lack of music and how obscure it is it’s pretty disturbing. A clown at an amusement park is fired and shows his decent into madness as he plots to kill his replacement.

A hilarious and disturbing B-Movie about two conjoined twins who, years after having surgery done, decide to get revenge on the doctor who did said surgery.

Many dislike this for its lack of Myers but the original idea for the Halloween series was to be a different narrative each time. A particularly disturbing scene is why I put this on the list and the entire idea of the movie in general.

A bit of a lesser known slasher about a Catholic family who’s child is killed during a communion and a series of slashings that follows.

Another masterpiece by John Carpenter about a mysterious capsule in the basement of a church. A group of students and a priest perform experiments on it only for it to all go wrong.

This freaky flick was banned in the UK for being a video nasty and the creator was arrested for releasing it unauthorized. It centers around a mental patient who escapes and plans to strike revenge on the house where he grew up in and has frequent dreams about what made him this way. If you want bmovie dismembered, slit throats, and decapitation then this is your film. (P.S. if you start to get even the slightest uninterested, wait till the end. Trust me.)

Manhunter and Silence of the Lambs are both tied for me for best hannibal lector movie. Manhunter has more shock and more stylized than Silence of the Lambs though.

The classic Christmas horror movie about a maniac who attacks a sorority nearing Christmas time. Honestly one of eeriest and most beautiful on the list for the ending alone.

A lesser known spanish horror movie from 1982, Pieces (original spanish title: Mil gritos tiene la noche) follows a murder who uses body parts from each victim to build a woman using the jigsaw puzzle he has had since a kid as a layout. A gory, goofy horror movie.

Another classic example of a disturbing movie. Angst follows a person who has just left prison but hasn’t learned their lesson and decided to kill once again. This movie has some of the best cinematography i’ve seen out of a horror movie.

Shock rating: 6/10 dental torture, animal death (though off screen), sex, nudity, sexual assault (though it is shot quite oddly enough to where the lighting and such makes it so you don’t see much)

Good enough to please those who want a cheesy gory horror movie. Of which it’s up there on my favorite cheesy horror movies list along with stuff in the same vein like Ice Cream Man (1995) (Clint Howard, who plays the ice cream man, also has a role in The Dentist 2.) The dental torture, although it does not linger, can be quite disturbing for how impressive it is for the ‘90s.

this movie is an anomaly to me. it’s got it’s ok moments and really bad moments. a cow gets its throat slit in a slaughterhouse early on which already tops itself for gore in the movie which it only goes down from there and is a mess of murder and sex
