Soviet–Afghan war films

Spring 1985. Intelligence officer Yuri Nikitin gets into the Pakistani fortress in Badaber. He was ordered by the Soviet Military Intelligence service to collect the evidence of existence of a Mujahideen training center operated by CIA. Having completed this life-threatening task, Nikitin finds a group of Russian prisoners of war, one of whom is his friend Mikhail, the son of his commander General Kolesov, who has been listed as missing in action for several years. Nikitin decides to stay and to rescue the condemned. He inspires the soldiers to regain hope and to start a riot against the armed to the teeth armed at all points Mujahideen.

A group of soldiers find themselves trapped behind enemy lines in Afghanistan. Their only hope for survival is to board a specially-designed bus.

1986, Afghanistan. The Mujahideen announce the launch of a new air-defense system called Stinger, which could potentially end Soviet supremacy in the air. Commander of Intelligence, Major Okovalkov is assigned the mission of getting hold of this new weapon and to do this, he has to intercept a small caravan transporting, according to intelligence information, a couple of Stingers. However, as it turns out, the caravan is a large heavily guarded vehicle with a well-armed escort. Realising that the mission is doomed to fail before it has begun, Okovalkov decides to let the caravan pass and then return to his unit, but his plans are ruined when a young and inexperienced soldier suddenly opens fire. A fight ensues during which most of the Soviet squad is killed. With only seven survivors and no radio contact, Okovalkov's real ordeal begins when he is forced to march his injured men over 45 kilometres back to base.

The film tells the story of a Russian soldier captured by Afghan Mujahideen, and his successful escape.

GHAME AFGHAN was filmed from October 85 to January 86 under extremely difficult conditions in the contested tribal area of Afghanistan/Pakistan by an Afghan-Swiss-Pakistani film crew. Filming took place in the impenetrable mountain ranges near the Khyber Pass, the desert wilderness of Belutshistan and several refugee camps near Peshawar. The film tells the story of an Afghan peasant family getting caught up in the turmoils during the Russian occupation. . The shepherd find a wounded mujahideen and carries him home. The Mujahed dies that night. The dead body is discovered the next day and the shepherd arrested. His family decides to flee to Pakistan. Completely disheartened and destitute, they reach the refugee camp on the other side of the border after days of walking through desert and rocky areas. The family can't get their bearings. They are uprooted. The younger sister is grabbed in the open street and bartered off to a wealthy merchant.

Andrei Potyomkin, frontier guard cadet, learns that his MIA father who fought in the Soviet-Afghan war is accused of treason. He is trying to find out the truth about his father's death, and together with a young promising journalist Alyona Nikitina, exposes a criminal group of servicemen who trade missiles to mojaheddin and terrorists. They are not ready to let their profitable business go easily...

The way of a column lies through the only bridge in the neighbourhood. Afghan militants are well informed about it, and, led by an American instructor, they prepare a trap. At the moment a Soviet geological expedition, located in mountains, is exposed to a night attack of dushmans (transl. from Afghanian enemy). The Afghan column disperses and geologists decide to go to Kabul. On their way they get information about an approaching soviet column, which would make their trip to Kabul much safer. But they dont know that they are already a part of the operation on the bridge.
