A tough cop is posted to a small town where an evil businessman reigns like a tyrant. When the cop recognizes the businessman as his father's murderer, it becomes personal.

Sita Sinha watches as her young son, Bihari fights another young, wealthy lad, Amar for spattering dirt on his body using his car. Sita then intervene, separates both, take them to her house only to make them embrace each other which eventually blossoms into friendship. Years later both grows up and they continue their affections for each other; Amar then gets married to wealthy Jaya while Bihari gets married to a female laborer. But shortcomings develop between both Amar and Bihari when Amar's businessman dad, Brij Bhushan Saxena instigated by his business partner schemes to create misunderstandings between both over a plot of land. Bihari then blames Amar for all the up-heals and plots to destroy him.

A poor but big-hearted man takes orphans into his home. After discovering his scientist father's invisibility device, he rises to the occasion and fights to save his children and all of India from the clutches of a megalomaniac.

Rajat and Mukta meet each other and fall in love. They get married and live in harmony for a few years. Holding a first degree in law; Avinash Kapoor is employed as a lecturer in a college. When he attempt to punish some students for bending the rules; they retaliate by abducting his blind sister, Geeta. Avinash locates them and beat them up; only to learn that he is fired from his job and sentenced to 6 days in jail for contempt of court; after completing his sentence he is unable to locate any job which forces him to re-locate to Bombay; which still does not help. His aggression for cash leads him to deliver a bag to a smuggler named, Mr. Agnihotri; Agnihotri then puts a job proposal to him but he refuses to have any doing with unlawful activities. Later on he is forced to change his mind when he needs money to pay for his mother's medical surgery which Agnihotri provides. After this there is no looking back for Avinash as he continue to climb the ladder working for Agnihotri; Avinash meets and fall in love with a cabaret dancer, Sonia. But Agnihotri's younger brother, Dilip is also fascinated by Sonia; who abducts her and attempt to sexually molest her which forces her to jump to her death from a multi-storied building. Bearing witness to this Avinash loses his cool, locates Dilip and kill him. Avinash is then arrested by the police and his case is called up in the court. On his way to the court he gets a letter stating that Agnihotri is holding his mother and sister as hostages until he confess to killing Sonia and Dilip.

Kapil's (Naseeruddin Shah) younger brother, Buntu, dies as a result of a drug overdose. Kapil vows to put an end to drugs and drug-dealers, by joining the police. He soon attains the title of C.I.D. Inspector. He lives in Bombay with his mom (Kamini Kaushal). One day his friend from Goa, Albert Pinto (Pankaj Kapoor) is killed in front of him. He vows to avenge his death, but the local police will not permit to do so, and they assign this incident to another inspector. Frustrated, Kapil decides to travel to Goa. Once in Goa, he finds out that he has no powers as a policeman, and the Goa police regard him as a nuisance. He attempts to uncover Albert's death, with the help of Jojo (Archana Puran Singh), but instead gets into brawls, is arrested, and is escorted by the local police, back to Bombay. But Kapil escapes from police custody, and soon he is on the run, not only the police, but local goons also, who will not hesitate to kill him instantly.

A poor widowed farmer, Dharma Singh, raises two children, a boy (Karan) and a girl (Geeta) on his own in a town called Rampur, and would like his son to grow up to be a police officer. Alas, that was not to be so, for heavy torrential rains strikes their region, separating the entire family, leaving Dharma wounded, and the two children ending up in a town called Sitapur. Geeta decides to work so that her brother can study. Her brother re-locates to Bombay city, and subsequently studies well, and becomes a Police Inspector. He is assigned his first major assignment to get rid of bandits near Sitapur, which he accepts, little knowing that the very people he is expected to get rid of are his very own sister, who is now a former jailbird, a notorious bandit who calls herself "Maut", and at odds with another bandit known as Daku Dharma Singh, who is none other than her father. Will Karan be able to fulfill his duties or will he end up joining his family in a life of crime.

Union Leader Vijay Saxena wants his employer, Dhanraj, to treat his employees as shareholders, and for this purpose he presents him a cheque of 10 lakh rupees being their contribution, which Dhanraj accepts. Then the company shows huge losses, as a result the employees are unhappy and are certain that Dhanraj has manipulated the accounts to show a loss. To make matters worse, an employee loses his leg, and is hospitalized, unable to be employed there anymore. Dhanraj promises a compensation of Rs. 60,000 but the worker only ends up getting Rs.10,000. When Vijay confronts Dhanraj, he is told that Mohan, another employee, may have been responsible for stealing the balance Rs.50,000. Vijay threatens to kill Mohan, and shortly thereafter Mohan's dead body is found with multiple stab wounds, also killed are his wife and child. Vijay is caught red-handed, arrested by Police Inspector Jaikishan Verma, and tried in court. Jaikishan's wife, Sub-Inspector Jyoti, comes to his rescue in court, testifying that she was with him at the time the murders took place, thus shattering her married life with Jaikishan, as well as the life of her sister, Vidya, who is to be married to Vijay. The question remains, did Jyoti give a false testimony to save Vijay, or is she really having an affair with him? Did Vijay really kill Mohan and his family?

Din Dayal Sharma works as a Head Clerk and lives with his wife, Godavari; 3 sons Vijay, his wife Uma; Shiva and Vidyasagar; and a daughter named Rajni. Their standard of living is middle-class and all three males contribute to this lifestyle with Vijay contributing the most as he is a Chartered Accountant. When the time comes for Rajni's marriage, she refuses to marry Jagmohan's son, and wants to marry a Christian by the name of Peter Fernandes. The marriage takes place, and she re-locates to the Fernandes' house. Shiva ends up getting married to Jagmohan's daughter, Vasanti, and the entire family is overjoyed to learn that Uma is expecting. Uma goes to live with her parents during the rest of her pregnancy, and several months when she returns home she finds that nothing is the same anymore. Vasanti has left Shiva; Rajni has separated from Peter; Vidyasagar has failed in his exams; Vijay and Din Dayal are not speaking with each other and have drawn a line, separating Vijay and the rest of the family. Watch what Uma does to reconcile the family, who are totally unaware of her ulterior motive of re-uniting everyone.

Jageera Singh has always lived a life of crime, drinking alcohol, and frequenting brothels, although he is married to pregnant Laxmi and has a son named Vikram. When Police Inspector Vikram's diligence causes problems for Bhanupratap, Jageera offers to kill Vikram, especially when Bhanupratap's niece Priya falls in love and wants to marry Vikram. At this point the past revisits Jageera and he comes face-to-face with his past wrong actions and the devastation that he has inflicted on his family.

Dharampura is a city in modern secular India that is being terrorized and held at ransom by Kali Prasad, a dreaded underworld don, extortionist, who also runs his own courtroom, shielded and protected by the local M.L.A.. He does away with his opponents openly without any fear of being arrested. When Constable Karamveer arrests him, Kali gets himself released the very next day, abducts, rapes, then kills Karamveer's wife, beats him senseless, and eventually leaves him raving mad. When that does not happen, the people of Dharampura will get to see Draupadi's story being re-enacted again - this time it will be Laxmi who will be publicly disrobed, and amongst the helpless spectators will be her husband.

A businessman faces challenges when he unknowingly permits his daughter to get engaged to the son of the man who betrayed him.

The story surrounds the lives of Dr. Rehman (Shashi Kapoor) who believes in saving the lives of the poor, instead of opening up a clinic in a big city and making money; Soni (Rekha), an innocent village girl, who was abducted by dacoits during her marriage with Dharma (Puneet Issar), and when the police rescue her and bring her back to her groom, he and his family reject her, making her seem like a fallen woman; Dr. Kumar (Ashok Kumar) who is the very opposite of Dr. Rehman; and Dr. Anand (Vinod Mehra), the son of Dr. Kumar. Dr. Anand practices under Dr. Rehman, who testified for him during a criminal trial for malpractice which resulted in the death of the husband of Rani Sahiba (Moon Moon Sen). Soni has fallen in love with Dr. Anand, but Dr. Anand has strong reservations against her, due to her background.

Vijay forces his wife Laxmi to leave her house, suspecting an extra marital affair. Years later, Vijay and Laxmi come face to face and start meeting each other.
