Recensione in evidenza
I went to camp with this guy from like 2000 to at least 2004 (Dave Burd - Nova '04 lol) although I was three years younger. He really was sort of famous at camp and would get called up for the talent shows at Camp Kweebec in Schwenksville, PA( not Lebec) even if he hadn't signed up.
One summer, the summer that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Came out, for his act he came up to the stage with the book underarm then slowly sat down, Indian style, and took out the book and proceeded to read aloud the final chapter to the entire camp at large. When everyone realized what he was doing literally the entire camp, especially the younger kids, stuck their fingers in their years and started doing whatever they could to drown him out. But he persevered for quite a while until I think the owner of the camp came up to boot him off. I was one of the the kids moaning with my fingers in his ears but looking back it was actually one of the funniest things anyone could do for a talent act. Legendary! His other acts were mostly comedy or rap performances or a combination. I remember another summer for a talent act Senior Camp had just been to an Usher concert and I don't really remember the act he did I just remember him and his stage partner being completely decked out in ghetto swag garb they had purchased from the concert and just doing a hardcore rap. Which is funny in and of itself but when you also realize these are teenage/tweenage white Jewish priveledged kids from suburban Philadelphia and New Jersey mainly (also shout out to Baltimore/Potomac area) it's makes it's ironic and probably more funny to some people but less funny to other. Anyway everyone had fun at camp. Great pls d great times. And it spawns talent.
Fun Fact: Another "famous" camp Kweebec alumna - Abbi Jackobson of Broad City.
I think Dave's acting performance is great but it almost isn't "acting." He is being his true Jewish neurotic self and it's just great to see how he has somehow packaged those traits into something so entertaining and fun to watch.
