First: I have nothing to do with this film. Wanted to make that clear because I rarely give anything 10 stars and often suspect such ratings.
However this film in less than 5 minutes brought every emotion in the book: humor, wonder, enjoyment and at one point (I loathe to publicly admit) even a tear. No finer credit can be given any film, of any length.
I don't want to spoil this so I'll say no more about the plot except what is presented: this is a story about a relationship between a grandfather and grandson (as becomes quickly recognized). Where that goes and what makes this film so good, is where they take it from there.
If the ending seems a bit odd to some, remember: this is seen not only through the eyes of the grandson, but the grandfather himself. It is just a bit anti-climactic, but the film is so well done in its entirety I could not bring myself to dock it a star for a semi-perceived flaw.
Great directing, story line and acting. Cinematography was excellent (considering the setting and story). I just don't see how they could have done better.
This is how films should be made, whether 5 minutes or a mini-series... and it proves there are still people around who can both write and tell a good story. Considering how I tend to tear shorts to little bits... the people involved in this can be proud they wrung 10 stars out of me. That's a rare feat indeed.
