Phil Read won two consecutive 500cc world championships for MV Agusta in 1973 and 1974. He died in 2022.

Giacomo Agostini replaced Jarno as Yamaha's number one rider. In 1974 Agostini won two championships for Yamaha. He was his last championship in 1975.

Agostini's team mate became Tepi Länsivuori. He continued to compete until 1978.

Jarno Saarinen is the only Finnish motorcycle world champion, so far. He is buried in Turku.
