Plot
On a late night at an empty train station, two friends are haunted by a creepy smiling woman in a yellow dress.
Cast
Made by Alex Magaña whose list of works is getting pretty intense.
Verdict
How many are we at now? 10? A dozen? There are a lot of Smiling Woman short films and at first I was relatively impressed. They look great, well made and are suitably creepy but then something happened, I began to appreciate that they're all the same.
No, seriously. The dynamic of the Smiling Woman films is the same and to an extent you expect that, in fact you watch it for that but there's a line and these films cross that. You won't enjoy "More of the same" you'll walk away feeling that you'd already watched that because it's quite frankly nearly identical. This one takes it to the next level as well because it has the same setting as previous, I understand the reason for this but it throws you no curve balls at all.
Mr Magaña, please change it up a bit.
Rants
I will inevitably move onto Magaña's other short series but I'm so hesitant, I should be looking forward to it but I feel that they'll do one of the following.
1) Have a new concept but then every subsequent one follows it to the letter and brings new meaning to repetition
2) Is pretty much exactly the same as the Smiling Woman stuff, which is very likely considering the thumbnails look like the smiling woman but without the yellow dress
The Good
Well made stuff
I like the Smiling Woman character
The Bad
Identical to all the other films to a major fault.
