As I sat down to watch the 2013 movie "Concrete Blondes" here late in 2020, I hadn't even heard about the movie prior to getting to watch it. So I wasn't sure what I was in for. And from the synopsis, I must admit that I wasn't really harboring the highest of hopes or expectations. But still, it being a movie that I hadn't already seen, and me getting the opportunity to do so, of course I managed to sit down to watch it.
And color me impressed. I found "Concrete Blondes" from writers Alex Douglas, Nicholas Kalikow, Rob Warren Thomas and Chris Wyatt to be a surprisingly interesting and entertaining movie. I liked the storyline and the pacing of the movie, and it turned out to be a good movie overall actually.
The storyline told in "Concrete Blondes" was pretty straight forward, though I did enjoy the twists that were put into the storyline by the writers. Was it predictable? Well, I didn't think so. And I think those twists definitely spruced up the movie quite well.
The characters in the movie were complimentary to the storyline, and they were nicely detailed and fleshed out. And of course it helped a lot that they had managed to put together a great ensemble of actors and actresses for portraying the various roles in the movie. It was particularly fun to watch John Rhys-Davies in a role such as the one he had in "Concrete Blondes". But the most outstanding actor in the movie was Brian Thomas Smith in his role as Karl.
For me, "Concrete Blondes" was good entertainment from beginning to end, and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I am going to rate it a well-deserved six out of ten stars.
