Series 1
Harking back to the regulation dramas being made 10-15 years ago.
No profanities (all series), which just goes to show that they are not necessary to make a drama seem more realistic.
However, although I like John Simm I now find him very one dimensional. He always plays the same characters.
Richie Campbell is more interesting but I think Craig Parkinson was brought in to liven things up a bit.
There is absolutely no chemistry whatsoever between Grace and Cleo. In reality this relationship would never have got off the ground.
Many of the storylines are disturbing, particularly episode 3 of series 4 which I just found as being sick. Peter James is an author I will not be looking out for.
I live near Brighton, so a lot of the scenery is familiar, although some of the geography is suspect (episode 1 series 1, Crowborough is nowhere as near to Brighton as intimated).
As the series progressed I found the whole disappearing wife strand a bit of a tease and damp squib in the end.
Also, the ubiquitous unsupportive police chiefs have become clichéd in the extreme.
